Watch: Stephen Amell’s Code 8 Teaser

Check out a teaser below from a secret project from Stephen Amell with “Code 8” featuring his cousin Robbie Amell and Fast & Furious‘ Sun Kang.

Not much is known about the film, but we see from the footage that it’s a science-fiction flick where it looks as if people with paranormal powers are being targeted.

Amell posted on Facebook, “I’ve been working on something,” and included a link to code8.com which features a countdown and a field to sign up for e-mail updates.

According to the official Code 8 Facebook page, the movie may not look to star Stephen Amell as the Arrow actor is on board as a producer. Robbie Amell, Sung Kang, Aaron Abrams, Chad Donella and Alfred Rubin Thompson are listed as the actors. Jeff Chan is the director, with Chris Pare writing the script; additional producers include Robbie Amell, Geoff Mclean, Tommy Dingwall, Jeff Chan and Chris Pare. The studio behind the project is Colony Pictures.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell Wants To Appear On Supergirl

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24465:]]

With Grant Gustin appearing as The Flash in an upcoming episode of Supergirl, it makes sense to have the face of DC appear some time as well.

While speaking with IGN, Arrow‘s Stephen Amell mentions he wouldn’t mind appearing on Supergirl.

Sure! In this iteration of the DC Universe, the “Television Universe” as it were, I’m the guy that’s been around the longest, so I always feel — whether I’m on a show or I’m not on a show — I always feel as though I can in some way, shape or form represent them, and I always want them to be wildly successful and last for many more years than we end up lasting, because I just want to see people have success. So I would love to go over to Supergirl. That would be a blast, if for no other reason than I miss shooting in Los Angeles. [Laughs]

The Flash / Supergirl episode airs Monday, March 28th on CBS and is titled “Worlds Finest.”

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8pm ET on the CW.

TV Fan Blasts Marc Guggenheim “Over Slap To The Face” Because Of Suicide Squad Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24214:]]

I always love when I hear executives state the movies don’t affect the comics or TV universes.

Case in point: Current Marvel Comics EIC Axel Alonso regularly states the movies don’t affect the comics. We know that isn’t true as Matt Fraction stated the Thor movie interfered with how he wrote his Thor comic; we know Abnett and Lanning were kicked off their Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova comics because of Gunn’s film; we know the Inhumans are replacing the X-Men, and we know Marvel Comics cancelled the Fantastic Four because of the Fox movie. We also know the last ten or so years has seen Marvel Comics focus on the Avengers, and not the X-Men. And Steve Roger is returning as Captain America.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24220:]]

Regarding the DC Comics, legendary creator George Perez was pretty clear when he stated the Man of Steel people messed with his New 52 Superman comic, which is why he left.

And we also know the same happens with the DC TV universe.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24223:]]

Because of the Suicide Squad movie, Deadshot is “off the table,” Harley Quinn was shelved, and with the recent death of Amanda Waller in Arrow, it’s easy to guess the same thing happened with her character. Batman and Superman are also off limits for the Flash and Arrow universe, and Arrow couldn’t use Blue Beetle, so they went with Atom instead. Now it’s learned Deadstroke is also shelved (see below).

We can also speculate as a result of the new Green Lantern Corps movie, that now Green Lantern is also off limits.

There has been some online chatter amongst fans asking why this is the case — as the DC execs regularly state the movie and TV universes are separate. Zack Snyder recently said more of the same. So why then can’t they have the same characters? If I had to guess, my answer as to why the TV characters are being shelved is not to compete with their movie counterparts. We can probably thank Grant Gustin’s Flash for that. I’ve said it before, I think DC has finally found their “Spider-Man” with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and The Flash. The series is popular amongst casual fans, young fans, hard core fans and older fans (WB really needs to start heavily promoting Gustin and the series). I think WB is going to find it difficult to sell the Ezra Miller Flash to the fanbase. We see they have already started spinning that we should accept Miller because there are different universes. Ezra Miller has probably been coached on the topic as in interviews he’s mentioned multiple realities/universes/dimensions. The controversy has even caused Grant Gustin to come out and tell fans that he supports Miller.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24218:]]

Now executive producer Marc Guggenheim is feeling the heat as fans asked and complained on Tumblr about the TV characters getting the axe, specifically the Arrow Suicide Squad characters with Deadshot, Deathstroke and Amanda Waller.

Fan #1: Any possible chance of either Slade or Walter returning throughout the rest of Season 4? #Arrow

MG: The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project.  Walter is more likely.

Fan #2: You said that only Deadshot was off-limits, and Amanda Waller & Deathstroke are safe. But you guys killed Waller off just like that, and she doesn’t seem like she will ever return(Because bullet to head). Who’s next to be killed off? Katana? Once Deathstroke arrives in the DC movie, will he be also killed off too? This is really frustrating, that all awesome characters are being written off, because of the Suicide Squad movie, and is a slap to the face of Arrow fans.

MG: Um… I never said that.

Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, who may just be as frustrated as a lot of fans are (Amell has been vocal about wanting to be in Justice League with Gustin as the movie Flash), recently stated in an interview he thinks Arrow is missing Deathstroke.

“Manu [Bennett] is a character, and Manu played a great character. And I really honestly think that Arrow has been missing something since he hasn’t been around. I really do. He was a transformative villain. I would really love it if Deathstroke could keep being a part of the Arrow universe,” Amell said.

Sorry to say, Stephen, per Guggenheim’s words, that isn’t going to be the case. Let’s just hope Green Arrow doesn’t appear in the DCCU any time soon, eh?

Stephen Amell Responds To Marvel Rumors

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23673:]]

With the WB movie universe apparently giving Stephen Amell the cold shoulder (and Grant Gustin), is the Arrow, Marvel bound?

Around three weeks ago saw Stephen Amell mention he would be open to a Marvel movie role, which apparently had led some fans online to believe he’s actually up for a role.

While debunking the rumor of leaving Arrow on Facebook, Stephen Amell commented on being rumored for the MCU.

That’s another one of those absolutely preposterous rumors. Here’s the deal: I’m an actor. I like acting roles. Because an actor tends to be defined by not being unemployed. So if a role came up… I would always listen. Does that include Marvel characters? Of course it does. Have there been any offers, auditions, or even general meetings…? No.

So if Marvel did give Amell a call, any ideas as to who he could play? I previously put it forth he could possibly play Richard Rider Nova. Some other suggestions have included Moon Knight. How about John Walker, aka US Agent?

“Arrow” returns January 20th, and TMNT 2 hits June 3rd, with Amell as Casey Jones.

Stephen Amell Is Not Leaving Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23672:]]

Stephen Amell is the Arrow, and it’s staying that way.

Apparently there is some sort of thought online that Stephen Amell may be leaving Arrow, possibly for Supernatural.

The speculation kicked off when it was revealed an episode of Supernatural would venture into the world of professional wrestling.

As Amell is a fan of both the WWE and Supernatural, it’s been suggested online that Amell would be bailing on Arrow for one of those roles on Supernatural.

There isn’t really much evidence to support the claim; however, the notion of Amell leaving Arrow has caused the actor to take to Facebook to respond to the allegations.

“Facebook… I keep reading that I’m leaving Arrow. I’m not,” Amell said. “I have a contract that runs through 2019. At least. Now… That doesn’t mean Arrow will run that long, but if it does… I’ll be here. Any other questions I can answer?”

Arrow returns January 20th “with a vengeance,” Amell said.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell Wins WWE Slammy; Wrestlemania Rematch Likely?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23437:]]

Arrow‘s Stephen Amell has won a WWE Slammy for his match against Cody “Stardust” Rhodes at SummerSlam.

Last night saw the WWE announce their annual Slammy Awards, which is the wrestling equivalent of the Oscars.

Amell faced tough competition taking on the likes of the cast of Entourage introducing Zack Ryder; Kevin Owens powerbombing Machine Gun Kelly off the stage; Jon Stewart’s involvement in John Cena’s match at SummerSlam, and Wayne Rooney slapping King Barrett on Raw.

However, it was Amell who came out on top once again.

Stephen Amell and Cody Rhodes were feuding for a while prior to the SummerSlam match as they both often took to social networks to call each other out. Amell also appared on RAW, and Rhodes made fun of the Green Arrow during his matches.

When it came down to it, Amell landed a finishing blow on Rhodes off the top rope for the win at their SummerSlam match.

Their feud doesn’t look to be over – which may mean a Wrestlemania rematch – as Stardust stole Amell’s Slammy. Amell posted the following video on Facebook stating his “response is forthcoming” as Stardust called the Arrow out, “You know where to find me.” You can also check out more highlights below from their feud.

Stephen Amell Open To Marvel; How About Nova?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23331:]]

Stephen Amell more than likely won’t be featured on the big screen along side Batman and Superman, which is a shame as Amell has been the face of DC for the past few years.

While DC might have missed the boat, how about Marvel?

In Stephen Amell’s latest Facebook video, the actor offers he would consider doing a Marvel role and even says he wouldn’t turn it down.

“Sure, why not?  I’m up for roles – movie roles – although I’ve never really read Marvel Comics, and I was always a DC guy even before I was a DC guy. But it’s not like if I got offered an awesome Marvel superhero, I’d be like ‘No, I can’t.'”

Just off the top of my head, Richard Rider Nova came to mind. With James Gunn launching the Marve Cosmic side of things with Guardians of the Galaxy, how about Stephen Amell playing Nova? Nova actually helped launch the Guardians of the Galaxy comic as the character was featured in the stellar Marvel Cosmic event back in 2005/6 with the fan-favorite Annihilation story. Marvel Comics followed that up with the 2007 Nova comic, which then saw another Annihilation event and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Marvel put out a more serious Nova movie (than Guardians) directed by someone like Ridley Scott, Matt Reeves, Joseph Kosinksi or Rupert Wyatt. Maybe even JJ Abrams?

Amell talks Marvel at around the 7-minute mark below.

Stephen Amell stars in “Arrow” and will be featured in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” as Casey Jones.

New DC TV Series In The Works? “That’s Super Cool” Says Stephen Amell

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23024:]]

It looks like we may have a new DC TV series in development as it’s learned from a live Facebook chat with Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell that casting director David Rapaport is involved with a new project.

To be clear, it’s unknown if it’s for a DC TV series, but we’re speculating based on what was said in the video (watch below).

David Rapaport is the casting director for Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

Stephen Amell introduced Rapaport in the video with Robbie Amell spilling the news.

“Ladies and gentleman this is David Rapaport, casting director of Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, The Tomorrow People, Supergirl…” Stephen Amell said before Robbie Amell chimed in.

“There’s a new one,” Robbie Amell said.

“There is,” Rapaport confirmed.

“Oh, you can’t announce it,” Robbie Amell teased. “Good thing I didn’t mention it [laughs].”

Stephen Amell didn’t know what the new show was, but Robbie Amell whispered something in his cousin’s ear.

“That’s super cool!” Stephen Amell said.

“You guys are going to love it,” Rapaport offered.

Any ideas what the new series could be, assuming it’s DC?

Maybe Superboy?

Update: It’s learned Supergirl is casting a young Superman.
