What Would Stan Lee Do During A Zombie Apocalypse?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23641:]]

What would Stan “The Man” Lee do if a zombie apocalypse ever hit?!

The Marvel comics creator behind the likes of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man told Empire Magazine — he would throw a party!

“I wouldn’t go anywhere; I would stay where I was. Because I think this whole zombie thing is wrong. You see, it seems to me that if somebody was dead, and then came back to life, that person wouldn’t want to hurt anybody, he would be so happy! “Hey, look at me! I’m alive! Let’s party!” So I would hang around and wait for the next party.”

Lionsgate Adapting Stan Lee’s Romeo & Juliet: The War Graphic Novel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23258:]]

Back in 2011, Stan Lee and 1821 Comics published a futuristic science-fiction take on the classic Shakespeare play with Romeo and Juliet: The War.

Now it’s learned the graphic novel is getting adapted into a movie.

“What a treat it is to finally announce our partnership with Lionsgate on a project,” said Lee, reports Variety. “The story of Romeo and Juliet is one of my absolute favorites, and I can’t wait to bring our rendition of this classic to life.”

The Romeo and Juliet: The War movie is being written by screenwriter John J. Griffin, with Paris Kasidokostas-Latsis and Terry Dougas of 1821 Media producing. Stan Lee and Gill Champion of POW! will executive produce, and Erik Feig and James Myers will oversee the project for Lionsgate.

“Given their success with franchises such as The Hunger Games and Divergent series, Lionsgate is the perfect partner to adapt this graphic novel which is rich in visuals and set in an incredible, futuristic world,” Kasidokostas-Latsis and Dougas said.

The Romeo and Juliet: The War graphic novel was published in a limited giant edition format that set the Guinness World Record for the largest graphic novel. You can purchase it on Amazon.

I interviewed Stan Lee back in 2011 at the NYCC about the book, and the crowd around Stan Lee got so big, that the NYPD threatened to shut him down (it was crazy!). Check out the trailer narrated by Stan Lee below.

ROMEO AND JULIET: THE WAR story takes Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers and places them in the futuristic sci-fi/fantasy Empire of Verona, the most powerful territory on Earth. The MONTAGUES, powerful cyborgs made of artificial DNA, and the CAPULETS, genetically enhanced humans known for their speed and agility, worked in tandem to destroy all threats to the city. With no one left to fight, the Montagues and Capulets found themselves a new enemy: each other.

Watch: Mark Hamill Pitches Evil Luke Skywalker

Check out video above featuring Mark Hamill telling the story about how he pitched Luke Skywalker going to the Dark Side to George Lucas following Empire Strikes Back.

The video recently surfaced from ten years ago when Hamill appeared on Jon Favreau’s Dinner for Five series, which interestingly enough also has JJ Abrams as a guest.

Some fans are speculating Abrams may have turned Luke to the Dark Side in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“As an actor, that would be more fun to play,” Hamill noted about an evil Luke. “When we finished [Episode II], I figured that’s what will be the pivotal moment. I’ll have Han Solo in my crosshairs, and I’ll be about to kill him, or the Princess, or somebody that we care about.”

Hamill also offered up some details on how his evil Luke would look like, which seems what Lucas may have borrowed from for Anakin’s own look in the prequels (via vulture).

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hits December 18th.

Is Stan Lee Bridging Marvel & X-Men Movie Universes With Spider-Man?

It was previously stated that Fox and Marvel had been at odds over the Marvel-licensed characters which includes the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Reportedly it got so heated that eccentric Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter ordered the cancellation of the various comic books and movie-related merchandise. Fantastic Four Movie Rights Rumored To Return To Marvel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22476:]]

With the recent announcement of two X-Men TV series in development, which sees X-Men producers working side-by-side Marvel execs, now it’s rumored the Fantastic Four movie rights have returned to Marvel.

According to Den Of Geek, Marvel okayed the two X-Men TV series, Legion and Hellfire Club, in exchange for the Fantastic Four movie rights.

It’s said a new Fantastic Four movie is planned for 2020, and is one of the three new Marvel movies that were just announced.

It’s also worth mentioning that Stan Lee will have a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse – for the first time in ten years – which further signifes relations between Marvel and Fox are improved.

An Avengers/X-Men movie has also been rumored for 2020.

If the rumor of Fantastic Four holds true, lets hope that also means the Silver Surfer and Galactus go with it, as it was previously said Marvel wanted those characters and offered an extension of the Daredevil rights in exchange. The deal never went through and DD eventually returned to Marvel leading to the Netflix TV series.

If FF is also back at Marvel that may also mean its villains – such as Annihilius – would return, which would make it possible for Marvel Studios to adapt the fan-favorite Annihilation Marvel Cosmic comics event from 2005/6 starring Richard Rider Nova. The series spawned Guardians of the Galaxy.

Fox’s recent Fantastic Four was a huge flop at the box office only generating $166 million with poor reviews including a dismal 9% positive rating at Rotten Tomatoes.

Update: The original source of the article has been updated with mention the deal includes the rights to villains Galactus and Doctor Doom, as well as the Silver Surfer.

Update #2: Collider is reporting the rumor is false and is stating Fox already owned the TV rights; however, that contradicts what Fox said about being in negotiations with Marvel about a live-action X-Men series (meaning Fox doesn’t own the TV rights and Marvel needs to give the okay).

Update #3: Representatives for Fox are stating the rumored Fantastic Four deal is not true.

Update #4: Likewise, reps for Marvel are stating the rumor is not true.

Stan Lee Chooses A Side In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22250:]]

Stan Lee recently attended the Edmonton Comic Expo where he was asked which side is he on in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War Marvel movie. Stan’s answer shouldn’t come as a surprise:

Whatever side Captain America was on, because he’s the best, pure-hearted person in the whole world. By the way, he’s a great actor, too, the guy who plays Captain America does a beautiful job — Chris Evans. I say that because he likes me, and anyone who likes me is a great actor.

Stan Lee will also be a part of Civil War and has filmed a cameo.

“I just finished my cameo in the new Captain America movie the day before yesterday in Atlanta,” Lee said back in June. “They should stop calling them cameos and start calling them supporting roles.”

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Synopsis:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Following a ten year abscence from the X-Men movies, Stan Lee will return in a cameo role for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Lee recently appeared on Larry King where he was asked about his role.

“That cameo is different than any I have ever done before because I did it with another person who is very important to me,” Stan Lee said. “I can’t tell you more than that. No, you’ve go to see it.”

Stan Lee continued with mention his cameo will be the biggest thing since sliced bread.

“The whole world is now saying, because everybody watches your show, they’re all saying ‘who could possibly be that important to Stan?’ This is going to become the biggest talking point throughout the whole country.”

Stan Lee also told Larry King he doesn’t have anything invested in the Fox X-Men movies and doesn’t receive payments for them.

Watch: Stan Lee Responds To Fantastic Four Flop

Fantastic Four currently sits at $155 million worldwide at the box office with a 9% positive (or 91% negative, depending on how you want to look at it) Rotten Tomatoes score.

Now the co-creator of the Fantastic Four, Stan Lee, weighs in on the movie’s flop while speaking with Larry King.

“It was probably because I didn’t have a cameo in it,” Lee offered. “They didn’t discuss the story with me. I haven’t seen it yet. I really can’t comment about it.”

King, surprised that Stan Lee hasn’t seen Fantastic Four, questioned why he wouldn’t run to see it.

“I don’t run to see anything,” Lee responded. “I walk jaunty-jolly, as Mel Brooks would say, and I just get there eventually.”

Stan Lee also offers it “may be true” that movie studios reboot things too quickly.

Boston Herald Tries To Make Donald Trump Look Bad In Front Of Stan Lee — Doesn’t Work (Video)

Check out an interview above featuring Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Fantastic Four and lots more, weighing in on super heroes as well as who would win between Batman Vs. Superman.

Stan Lee is also asked about his personal heroes, in which the interviewer of the Boston Herald tells Stan Lee not to say Donald Trump. Lee questions the lady about what she just said, in which she repeats herself, “Don’t say Donald Trump.” Stan Lee seems a little taken back by the comment, states Trump is not his hero, but follows up with mention that his personal heroes are people that do things well in their every day lives. Stan Lee was quick to reply, “Donald Trump does things well. He runs his company well.”

Regarding Batman Vs. Superman, Stan Lee’s choice to win is the Man of Steel.

“Superman, I think. He’s indestructible and can do anything, and Batman relies on a few weapons,” Lee said. “The fellow who created Batman, Bob Kane, is a friend of mine, so he’d be unhappy of me saying that. But at the same time, Jerry Siegel, one of the creators of Superman, used to work for me for awhile, so I feel I have divided loyalties. But if this is real – a fight between Superman and Batman – there’s no one who should bet on Batman.”

Stan Lee Supports Michael B. Jordan: Defends Fans’ Complaints

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21483:]]

While Stan Lee doesn’t want Spider-Man to change any time soon, the 92-year-old Marvel creator says he is okay with Michael B. Jordan playing Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movie, and Stan Lee even defends fans who have complained about it.

“It was more than okay,” Lee told EW.com about Jordan cast as Johnny Storm. “I thought it was a great idea!”

Michael B. Jordan weighed in as well noting Stan Lee sent Fantastic Four director Josh Trank an e-mail about it.

“[If] Stan Lee writes an email to my director saying, ‘You’re good. I’m okay with this,’ who am I to go against that?” Jordan questioned.

While true, there have been many complaints online about the casting (actually, not just about the casting, but a lot of other things such as the Thing not having any pants), Stan Lee offers it’s not about being racist, but about the fact that the Human Torch has changed.

“They’re outraged not because of any personal prejudice,” Lee offered. “They’re outraged because they hate to see any change made on a series and characters they had gotten familiar with. In Spider-Man, when they got a new actor, that bothered them, even though it was a white actor. I don’t think it had to do with racial prejudice as much as they don’t like things changed. But I think they’re gonna get to love this character. So I’m not the least bit worried about it. I always tried to pepper these groups with as much racial diversity as possible because that’s the way the world is.”

“Fantastic Four” has an August 7, 2015 release directed by Josh Trank from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, Simon Kinberg and Josh Trank; produced by Matthew Vaughn, Simon Kinberg, Hutch Parker, Robert Kulzar and Gregory Goodman; starring: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.

Synopsis:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Stan Lee Stands Up For White Spider-Man; Says Create New Characters

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21125:]]

Leave it to Stan Lee to tell it like it is.

Marvel Comics as of late has been changing their characters to mold them into politically correct versions.

The latest is that the Black Puerto Rican version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, will be the headliner of the new Spider-Man series launching in the Fall.

The writer on the new Spidey series, Brian Michael Bendis, even went so far as to call white children racists by stating they wouldn’t let their friends of “color” pretend to be the white characters Batman or Superman (of course Bendis didn’t mention any white Marvel characters like Iron Man).

Now Stan Lee sets the record straight and says they should leave the characters alone and just create new ones.

“I wouldn’t mind, if Peter Parker had originally been black, a Latino, an Indian or anything else, that he stay that way,” Lee told Newsarama. “But we originally made him white. I don’t see any reason to change that.”

While Bendis apparently believes kids aren’t allowed to pretend to be a hero of a different “color,” Stan Lee thinks that one of Spider-Man’s stengths is that his costume enables anyone to potentially identify with the Web Crawler.

“What I like about the costume is that anybody reading Spider-Man in any part of the world can imagine that they themselves are under the costume,” Lee said. “And that’s a good thing.”

Lee continues that it’s not about being anti-gay or anti-black, and even mentions what may fans have stated, which is they wouldn’t want to see the black characters changed as well.

“It has nothing to do with being anti-gay, or anti-black, or anti-Latino, or anything like that,” Lee said. “Latino characters should stay Latino. The Black Panther should certainly not be Swiss. I just see no reason to change that which has already been established when it’s so easy to add new characters. I say create new characters the way you want to. Hell, I’ll do it myself.”

Stan Lee Confirms Ant-Man Cameo & Talks Animated Spider-Man Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20341:]]

As I previously stated, the Stan Lee cameo in The Avengers 2 got the second loudest applause in the movie theater, and now Stan Lee confirms another good one for Ant-Man.

While speaking to Screen Rant, Lee talks about his Avengers 2 cameo and mentions Ant-Man.

[The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is the] first cameo I’ve done that actually has two scenes. First there’s the setup scene and then there’s the scene that syncs it. Of course, each scene is about a half a second long. But if I can get past that it was pretty good.

They’re never going to stop. I’ve already done my cameo for Ant-Man and that’s a pretty good one, too.

You can watch Stan Lee’s Avengers 2 cameo here.

Stan Lee continues with talk of the recently announced Spider-Man animated movie.

I think it’s a great idea to do him in animation, because animation has become as popular as live action if it’s the right type of animated movie, like Big Hero 6. You must have seen that. it’s the one where I stole the movie.
