Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?”

And  Snyder says about the Justice League slate of movies:

“I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe.”

Gal Gadot Excited To Inspire People As New Wonder Woman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21436:]]

While Grant Morrison might not think much of the DCCU Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot is pretty darn excited.

Interview Magazine spoke with Gadot (in addition to putting up a really nice spread of pics) where Gadot offered the following:

Oh, my God, I’m so excited about this role. I feel like I’ve been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There’s a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It’s going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood.

In addition to Batman Vs. Superman, Gal Gadot will be featured in Justice League and the solo Wonder Woman film.

Guillermo Del Toro Updates Justice League Dark, Hellboy 3 & Pacific Rim 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21415:]]

Coming out of Comic-Con, we get an update regarding Guillermo del Toro’s involvement in Justice League Dark, Hellboy 3 and Pacific Rim 2.

Just prior to Comic-Con saw the news that Guillermo Del Toro had departed the Justice League Dark movie, which was (or is) to feature the supernatural characters of the DC Comics; now it’s learned the reason for Guillermo Del Toro leaving the film is because of Pacific Rim 2.

“Warners liked the script, they were very enthusiastic and wanted to green-light it but they wanted it to coincide with the shoot of Pacific Rim 2,” Del Toro told Daily Beast. “I was put in a very difficult place facing a difficult choice, and I chose to do Pacific Rim 2.”

There has also been talk of late about Hellboy 3, with Ron Perlman leading the charge. Del Toro says it is still a possibility, but there is a catch, as the article notes Guillermo del Toro said Pacific Rim 2 needs to be a success.

“The hard fact is that the movie’s going to need about $120 million and there’s nobody knocking down our doors to give it to us,” Del Toro offered. “It’s a little beyond Kickstarter,” he laughed. “But you know, Ron is no spring chicken, so we’d better get to it before Hellboy has to do everything from a Barcalounger.”

Regarding a new director for Justice League Dark or whether the movie is still moving forward is unknown, but with Guillermo del Toro stating it was to film at the same time as Pacific Rim 2, we can guess the two movies have similar release dates, so JLD may have originally had a Summer of 2017 release date (Pacific Rim 2 hits August 4, 2017 and starts filming in the Fall).

Green Lantern Reboot Titled Green Lantern Corps

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21336:]]

Update: Concept art and leaked footage has hit the net.

WB revealed at Comic-Con that the title of the new Green Lantern movie will be “Green Lantern Corps.”

At their big Hall H presentation earlier today in Hall H, Warner Bros. played a video on the big screens surrounding the audience that featured their upcoming slate of movies with Green Lantern Corps among them.

The video also featured various concept art and logos for the films which included:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Suicide Squad

• Wonder Woman

Justice League 1 & 2

• The Flash

Aquaman

Cyborg

• Green Lantern Corps

Previous rumors mentioned that WB was looking at using multiple Green Lanterns for the reboot, which this reveal looks to have confirmed.

The Green Lantern Corps movie has a 2020 release date, but most likely we’ll get a first look at the GLC in the Justice League movie (it would be pretty awesome if the GLC was involved in some sort of war which would explain their absence during Man of Steel).

DC Comics Announces Justice League: Gods And Men

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21329:]]

During Friday’s One on One panel at COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO 2015, JUSTICE LEAGUE writer Geoff Johns revealed his plans for a series of one-shots spinning out of his current “Darkseid War” story arc.

Scheduled for October, JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MEN is a series of six single issues focusing on key characters in the Darkseid War and extends their individual conflicts against the backdrop of universal Armageddon, with Darkseid squaring off against the Anti-Monitor:

Batman – Armed with the godlike power of the Mobius Chair, the Dark Knight has taken on the role of Metron and plans to use the infinite knowledge of this device to turn Gotham City into a completely crime-free zone!

Superman – Corrupted by the weird energies of Apokolips’ fire pits, Superman has been turned into an angry, violent brute. And only one man can possibly save him: Lex Luthor.

Green Lantern – Oa has been conquered and transformed into a Parademon factory and the Green Lantern Corps is no more! Only Hal Jordan remains to follow a distress call from the last active Lantern seen fighting on Oa: John Stewart

Lex Luthor – At last, Lex Luthor, the new ruler of Apokolips, can do what he never could accomplish on Earth: hold the fate of a world in his hands. But his one failure from the “Darkseid War” continues to keep him from the peace he craves – and only a crazed Superman can help him get it!

The Flash – The Flash takes on the role of death’s harbinger, the Black Racer. And the beneficiary of his first visit is Aquaman!

Shazam! – Instead of accessing the powers of the old gods, Billy Batson now commands the combined powers of the New Gods like Highfather, Mantis and others trapped within the Source Wall. And that’s power that no mortal should possess!

Ben Affleck To Direct New Batman Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21297:]]

Prior to Saturday’s WB movie panel at Comic-Con, it’s learned plans are underway for a new Batman movie which will be directed by and starring Ben Affleck.

Deadline reports Affleck is teaming up with DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns to co-write the new standalone Batman movie as well.

The new Batman film will begin after Affleck completes his plan to direct his scripted adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night, which Affleck kicks off in November.

The report mentions that “Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found their rhythm,” with is said the script will likely be turned in before the end of the Summer.

A release date hasn’t been set, but it’s said the Ben Affleck Batman movie will take priority and the other DC movies might have to move.

The plot is said to center around Batman following Batman Vs. Superman and the Justice League movie.

Justice League Movie Script Is Complete

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21247:]]

With Batman Vs. Superman due out in March 2016, it’s learned the Justice League movie script is complete as well.

In EW’s latest issue covering Comic-Con, it’s noted in their Batman Vs. Superman article the Justice League script is ready.

Here’s the blurb:

To craft the costumed-hero mash-up, Snyder and Chris Terrio — the Argo screenwriter who was brought on to Batman v Superman for a rewrite and who has since finished the Justice League script — locked themselves in a room with an enormous supply of Diet Coke and plotted out their epic saga visually, like a giant cave painting. “Chris would talk and I woud draw and it was basically this weird mural of the movies with no words,” says Snyder.

They drew from their own imaginations as well as comics mythology, including Frank Miller’s revered 1986 The Dark Knight Returns, which also posits and embittered Batman past his prime setting his sights on our boy in blue. In his editing suite in Pasadena last month, Snyder showed off early passes of the money sequence, a rainy rooftop battle between the two capes. There’s an undeniable thrill to watching these pop culture icons go at it — that can likely be traced back to a memory of lying stomach-down in the living room, an action figure in each hand.

“Justice League Part One” has a 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. “Batman v Superman” hits March 25, 2016.

Guillermo del Toro No Longer Attached To Justice League Dark

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21190:]]

It’s learned Guillermo del Toro is no longer attached to Justice League Dark.

Yesterday saw Warner Bros. shuffle their DC Vertigo titles around which saw Sandman moved from WB to sister arm, New Line Cinema.

In THR‘s report on the news, they state insiders say Guillermo del Toro is working on Pacific Rim 2 and is prepping for the release of Crimson Peak and is no longer set to direct Justice League Dark.

It is noted Justice League Dark is still at Warner Bros.; the movie is set feature the supernatural characters of the DCU including Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and Deadman. The reason given (which may be why Guillermo del Toro is no longer attached) is that DC Comics recently moved the JLD characters into their regular DC Universe and the movie is doing the same.

Sandman is based on the Neil Gaiman comic and is being developed by Jospeh Gordon Levitt.

Dwayne Johnson’s Shazam is still at New Line as well.

Deadline reports the reason for the Vertigo titles shifting to New Line under Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener is that the Vertigo titles are considered “subversive” compared to the WB-steered DC Comics titles with those “venerable superheroes.”

Tyrese May Have Confirmed Green Lantern

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21167:]]

Tyrese Gibson is back at it — teasing Green Lantern.

The latest from Gibson’s Instagram seems almost as if it’s a confirmation the actor will be playing Green Lantern.

“The oath has been taken,” Gibson posted.

A few months ago saw Tyrese Gibson tease involvement in Green Lantern as the actor posted numerous fan art images of himself as Green Lantern stating the “oath has been taken” as well. Gibson confirmed he wanted the role and that “seeds have been planted at Warner Bros.”

Now following the latest rumors that the rebooted Green Lantern will feature Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner and John Stewart, and that Chris Pine may play Jordan, Gibons also posted: “Shit got real.”

It’s speculated that the new Green Lantern(s) may be announced at the Batman Vs. Superman Comic-Con panel.

The new Green Lantern movie is due out in 2020.

WB Exec Talks DC Vs. Marvel Movies, Batman Vs. Superman & Wonder Woman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20853:]]

Warner Bros. film chief Greg Silverman offers updates on the DC slate of movies in an recent interview with THR.com.

Regarding how WB will differentiate the DC movies from Disney’s Marvel movies, Silverman offers:

We have a great strategy for the DC films, which is to take these beloved characters and put them in the hands of master filmmakers and make sure they all coordinate with each other. You’ll see the difference when you see Batman v. SupermanSuicide SquadJustice League and all the things that we are working on.

There is intensity and a seriousness of purpose to some of these characters. The filmmakers who are tackling these properties are making great movies about superheroes; they aren’t making superhero movies. And when you are trying to make a good movie, you tackle interesting philosophies and character development. There’s also humor, which is an important part.

Silverman also comments on Michelle MacLaren leaving Wonder Woman, with Patty Jenkins coming on to direct:

We had a very intensive process looking at everybody. Patty and Michelle were really the ones who came to the forefront the first go-round, so when things didn’t work out with Michelle, we all knew we had someone great who had expressed interest before. She came back and is doing a great job. But it was never about the best female director. She has demonstrated doing amazing work with female characters, such as in Monster.

Wonder Woman also had multiple writers on the project with each writing different scripts. Silverman explains the reasoning:

Every project is different. On some projects, we have multiple writers working together. In some cases, we put writers together who have never been a team together. And sometimes, there is only one writer whose voice is right. In the case of Wonder Woman, the right approach was to have writers pitching different scenes within the framework we created.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits March 25, 2016 followed by “Suicide Squad” on August 5, 2016, with “Wonder Woman” and “Justice League Part 1” in 2017.

No Mark Strong For Green Lantern Reboot (Video)

Probably the best part of the Green Lantern movie was Mark Strong’s portrayal of Sinestro as well as the post-credit tease.

With Zack Snyder and WB relaunching Green Lantern, MTV caught up with Mark Strong and asked if there is a chance he may return.

Strong says with a reboot happening, he is sure they are going to go with a whole new look and different group of actors.

As of now, the new Green Lanten movie is still a ways off as it’s due to be released in 2020.

It’s also specualted we’ll see the new Green Lantern in the 2017 Justice League movie, but regarding just which GL will be featured is currently unknown as it could be Hal Jordan, John Stewart or even Kyle Rayner.

The only rumor surrounding Green Lantern was mention that Chris Pine might be up for the role; however, that rumor seems to be squashed as it’s recently been said Pine is up to play Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman movie.

With a planned documentary on the defunct 2009 George Miller Justice League movie in the works, concept art hit the net featuring Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman.

Now an artist who worked on the movie has posted Wonder Woman vs Superman storyboards.

Artist Steve Skroce posted the following on his Facebook adding:

I’m seeing a lot of art from the cancelled George Miller Justice League film so here’s a few boards that I did for the film. It was incredibly fun drawing the DC comics characters which I hadn’t had the opportunity to do until then. It’s Wonder Woman versus Superman ( they have their reasons, mind control!)

DJ Cotrona was going to play Superman, with Megan Gale as Wonder Woman.

Steve Skroce is known for his work on the Matrix movies as well as V For Vendetta.

George Miller Justice League Documentary Announced

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20734:]]

Following on the heels of the Superman Lives and Roger Corman Fantastic Four documentaries, a documentary for the defunct George Miller Justice League movie has been announced to be in development.

Warner Bros. and Miller were planning on a Justice League movie to be released in 2009, but the film was pulled due to multiple reasons.

George Miller’s Justice League, titled “Justice League Mortal,” was originally going to be shot in Australia; however, due to the writers’ strike at the time as well as reported filming-budget issues and Christopher Nolan not wanting two different versions of Batman on screen (Batman Begins was released in 2005 starring Christian Bale), it was yanked.

Australia’s IF.com reports Australian filmmakers are now making a documentary surrounding “Justice League Mortal” and plan on interviewing the cast and crew and hope to gain access to never-before-seen artwork and costumes.

The George Miller Justice League movie cast consisted of: Armie Hammer (Batman), DJ Cotrona (Superman), Megan Gale (Wonder Woman), Adam Brody (The Flash), Common (Green Lantern), Santiago Cabrera (Aquaman), Teresa Palmer (Talia Al Ghul), Zoe Kasan (Iris Allen), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Martian Manhunter) and Jay Baruchel (Maxwell Lord).

Greg Van Borssum, a stuntman on the movie, recently posted a picture of the Justice League cast last year.

Back in 1997 also saw a Justice League pilot shot for CBS, with 24 mintues released online.

Zack Snyder is directing a new Justice League movie, which kicks off a two-parter, slated for a 2017 release.
