Toy Soldiers: War Chest Trailer; Features He-Man & GI Joe

Today, Ubisoft unveiled four new rival toy armies to battle against each other in Toy Soldiers: War Chest.

The fast-paced tower defense action game will be available in standard and Hall of Fame editions on PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC this summer.

Toy Soldiers: War Chest Hall of Fame edition brings to life four additional nostalgic action figures that allow players to recreate imaginative battles using their favourite childhood heroes. Energised by the power of Grayskull, the Masters of the Universe army is led by He-Man, The Most Powerful Man in the Universe. Gifted with unimaginable strength and fearless courage, He-Man, Battle Cat and his Eternian warriors team up to protect the Eternia toy box from the forces of darkness.

Also marching into the toy box is America’s highly trained special mission force, code name: G.I. Joe. Led by brave field commander Duke and armed with an arsenal of weapons and overflowing with American spirit, this team works together on the front lines to stop evil in its tracks. Two additional licensed armies will be included in the Hall of Fame edition and announced at a later date.

Hailing from the future, Phantom and her Ghost Company are highly skilled in the art of guerrilla warfare and add a new dimension to the game with their use of deadly technology. Ghost Company relies on surprise, mobility and gadgets, such as drones, to overtake their opponent and liberate mankind. On the other side, Dark Lord is a villainous tactician who leads a vast army of men, monsters and dragons. His Black Dragon army overwhelms enemies with speed and supernatural powers. Completing the four armies are Kaiser, proud leader of the WWI-era German Empire forces, and Starbright, leading the adorable yet ferocious Buddy Bears, Ponies and Pixies from the Star Power army. These four armies will be included in both the standard and Hall of Fame editions.

With more heroes, missions and playable armies than any previous Toy Soldiers game, Toy Soldiers: War Chest is the most expansive title in the series to date.

Following the logo reveal, we now get a first look at Battle Cat from the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie.

Producer DeVon Franklin shared the following image on Twitter when a fan remarked Masters of the Universe can be as popular as the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

“I totally agree!!” Franklin enthusiastically responded.

Battle Cat is He-Man’s alter-ego of Cringer, the cowardly tiger that gets transformed into a war beast when He-Man wields his sword and says, “By The Power Of Greyskull! I have the Power!!”

Jeff Wadlow He-Man Movie Script Is Ready

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18588:]]

By The Power Of Grayskull! I Have The Power!

Back when I was around nine years old I had a letter published in the He-Man Magazine stating that “I liked when He-Man said that.”

The He-Man cartoon and of course the action figures were a big part of my childhood, so this comes as some good news to me.

The Senior Vice President of Production at Columbia Pictures, Devon Franklin, has started off the new year right by tweeting a picture of the completed He-Man movie script for Masters Of The Universe, which is written by Jeff Wadlow.

We see from the image that Wadlow updated previous versions of the Masters of the Universe script from Alex Litvak and Mik Finch, Richard Wenk, and Terry Rosio.

Wadlow previously wrote Kick-Ass 2, Cry_Wolf, Never Back Down and episodes of Bates Motel.

It’s being said that Wadlow might also direct the Masters of the Universe movie, but there may be a conflict with the X-Force movie; however, there hasn’t been mention of X-Force in a while. Fox has only confirmed movies for X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool and Wolverine 2, so it’s possible that X-Force might have been shelved.

To date, Masters of the Universe has no release date, plot or actors known. Hopefully we’ll hear some news soon.

The “DOC’s” Top Of The Pile for September 12th, 2012

The “DOC’s” Top Of The Pile

By: Chris “DOC” Bushley

( A weekly quick pick of the five titles that should reside at the top of your pull list. IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER! )

I do the research, you reap the reward! Before you head out to your favorite shop today, be sure to add these five titles to your list of goodies! Forget that “apple a day” nonsense, this “DOC’s” prescription to good health starts with these top five books of the week!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3024:]]1.  Batgirl #0:  Gail Simone has been hinting about Batgirl’s origin since issue one, especially that fateful night when it was all taken away from her. Well, you won’t see how she learned to walk again here, but you will see her heroism in full swing and her first meeting with a certain Knight! Well paced and very rich in characterization, this is a fantastic series!

2.  Avengers Vs. X-Men #11:  This is the single most impressive book of the series. Continuity issues aside — Cap asks the Hulk to join the Avengers? Wait, isn’t he already one in Avengers Assemble? Oh, that one’s only about Marvel movie characters? Okay! — this one gets the heart racing again! Plus, someone gets kill… oh, right –NO SPOILERS! I always forget!

3.  X-O Manowar #5:  One of Valiant’s coolest creations comes back in it’s flagship title! Enter–Ninjak! Finally, Aric has his hands full when Ninjak is paid to retrieve the X-O armor. But, will the world’s deadliest assassin turn it over or keep it for himself?

4.  Batman #0:  A cool tale about Bruce Wayne’s first attempts at bringing justice to Gotham, but it’s the back-up tale by James Tynion IV and Andy Clarke that makes this book worth while! Revolving around the “Bat family” of characters, we get to see their different perspectives regarding heroism in a single night. Really well done!

5.  He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #2:  Purely for nostalgic reasons, this one continues James Robinson’s tale of young Adam and his quest to remember his past. It seems a certain sorcerer has made him forget the man he truly is, but that won’t stop him from trying! Not even — Trapjaw! Let the eighties reign supreme!
