The Masters of the Universe He-Man movie at Amazon Studios adds two more to the cast with Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson is playing Fisto.

They joined the previously announced cast which also includes Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, with Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man.
Who is the Sorceress?
The Sorceress is a powerful, mystical guardian in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. She protects the secrets of Castle Grayskull and grants Prince Adam the ability to transform into He-Man. Often depicted with falcon-like wings and a headdress, she can also transform into her falcon form, Zoar.
Morena Baccarin is known for a plethora of roles including playing Vanessa in the Deadpool movies, voice of Gideon in The Flash, Leslie in Gotham, and lots more.
Who is Fisto?
Fisto is a heroic warrior in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, known for his giant metal fist and incredible strength. A skilled hand-to-hand combatant, he often battles evil forces alongside He-Man. Fisto is also depicted as a rugged, bearded fighter with a strong sense of justice.
Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson is known for Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Vikings: Valhalla, Those About To Die and stars in this week’s Captain America: Brave New World. The actor had some fun on his social media with the announcement:
What is the He-Man movie about?
Once again, the trades are reporting the plot is under wraps, so hopefully the previous descriptions aren’t correct as they sound really bad with the He-Man movie set on Earth. However, Nicholas Galitzine recently said their version of the Masters of the Universe movie is “quite different.” Honestly, to me, this film has “low budget” written all over it by a creative team that has zero idea what they are doing, knows nothing about He-Man, and probably doesn’t care.

I have, yeah. Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time. But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously since there was the ‘Revelation’ version of ‘Master of the Universe,’ and the comics themselves. And we’re very much treating our script as as Bible, you know. But it’s kind of amazing to hear what this show meant to a lot of people. It was really formative for a lot of people, so it’s exciting to do something that will have a nostalgia element as well as hopefully attract a bunch of new fans.

Masters of the Universe has a June 5, 2026 release date directed by Travis Knight. The script is from Chris Buttler with first draft by David Callaham, and Aaron and Adam Nee.
