Jim Lee Draws Wonder Woman With WB Logo Shield

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23183:]]

Check out a totally awesome drawing of Wonder Woman by DC Comics co-publisher and superstar artist Jim Lee.

It’s unknown presently what the image is for, but it’s possible the Wonder Woman pic is a variant cover of some sort.

We also see that Jim Lee added the “WB” logo inside Wonder Woman’s shield.

Gal Gadot stars as the big screen version of Wonder Woman in Batman Vs. Superman and the upcoming standalone movie.

Spoiler Returns In Batman #47

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23177:]]

Obvious spoilers for today’s issue of Batman #47 follow.

Quick recap: Bruce Wayne can’t remember being Batman, may not want to be Batman, and there’s a new Mech-Batman with Jim Gordon.

Today’s issue of Batman #47 sees lots of changes and things happen.

First up: The Batman mech suit gets blown to bits in a battle with Jim Gordon and Blossom:

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23178:]]

Then it’s revealed that the Joker is alive, who also apparently has amnesia. Note: When Batman and Joker last fought during Endgame, the two were both seemingly mortally wounded; however, a chemical was present that seeped into Bruce Wayne healing him and causing him to forget who he is. Now we see that same effect looks to have happened to Joker (or has it?).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23180:]]

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23179:]]

And here is the solicit for next issue:

Mr. Bloom’s seeds have grown into an army that may turn all of Gotham City against its new Batman. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne meets a mysterious stranger who could start a chain of events no one can stop.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC Entertainment and the LEGO Group, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on March 1, 2016 on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD. The brilliant, hyper-obsessive-compulsive, super-computer Brainiac is combing the universe for new additions to his collection of worlds when he stumbles upon a ripe planet for his taking – Earth. But Brainiac quickly discovers Earth has a “firewall” – the Justice League. When Brainiac cleverly displaces several members of the Justice League to other time periods in Earth’s history, Batman, Flash and Cyborg must build and use the Cosmic Treadmill to race across time to retrieve their comrades – while members of the Legion of Super Heroes attempt to hold off Brainiac’s assault. Only time will tell in this battle for the fate of the Earth and the Justice League!

The cast of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash features some of the top voiceover artists in the industry voicing the core Justice League heroes: Troy Baker (Batman), Nolan North (Superman), Grey Griffin (Wonder Woman), Josh Keaton (Green Lantern), Khary Payton (Cyborg) and James Arnold Taylor (The Flash). Phil LaMarr (Futurama, Static Shock, Pulp Fiction) joins the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes realm as the voice of Brainiac. The Legion of Super-Heroes also assists the Justice League efforts, spotlighting the voices of Jessica DiCicco (Supergirl), Kari Walhgren (Saturn Girl), Yuri Lowenthal (Cosmic Boy) and Andy Milder (Lightning Lad). Also along for the fun is Phil Morris, reprising his Justice League role as Vandal Savage, and Jason Spisak as Captain Fear.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash Special Features include:

• Featurette – “The Justice League: Caught On Camera” – They may be the world’s greatest crime fighters, but Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Cyborg and Supergirl test Batman’s patience by flubbing their lines, missing their cues and basically stinking up the screen literally!

DC Comics Vertigo Releasing Paul Dini Batman Graphic Novel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23091:]]

Today, DC Entertainment’s creator-driven imprint, Vertigo, announced Dark Night: A True Batman Story, from legendary writer Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Lost) set to release in June 2016. The story is a harrowing and eloquent autobiographical tale of Dini’s courageous struggle to overcome a truly desperate situation, with brilliant illustrations by Eduardo Risso (100 Bullets).

An extremely personal story for Dini – and the first time he’s told it to the world – the book focuses on a night that he was assaulted and brutally beaten by strangers and left on the sidewalk. In this surprising original graphic novel, Batman is seen in a new light – not as the grim avenger of the night, but as a savior who helps a discouraged man recover from a brutal attack that left him unable to face the world. But despite how bleak his circumstances were, or perhaps because of it, Dini always imagined the Batman at his side, urging him along during his darkest moments.

“Batman is a character truly universal in his ability to entertain and inspire fans of all ages and backgrounds. As a writer of Batman stories for comics, video games and animation, I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to contribute to that legacy. But there was a time some years ago when I found myself the victim of a violent attack and the last thing that made sense to me was to continue writing stories about a fantasy crime fighter. Struggling to recover, I found myself trapped in a dark place of isolation and abuse, plagued by demons both real and imaginary, with my only choices being to remain a victim or to stand up and fight back. Not so easy as the enemy I was fighting was my own fear,” explained writer Paul Dini.

“I must admit that this is not the kind of story I typically draw; it was undoubtedly a new challenge in my career,” added artist Eduardo Risso. “This novel gave me the opportunity to do something different with the graphic narrative. I didn’t have any idea about what aesthetic to use, but I was sure that I didn’t want to do the same thing I was used to doing. I hope you like it.”

Dini continued, “DC and Vertigo have given me the unique opportunity to tell this personal story, rendered better than I could have dreamed by the powerful artwork of Eduardo Risso. It is my hope  that Dark Night: A True Batman Story will both provide an interesting window into a writer’s mind in a time of crisis, and perhaps inspire other victims of violence to search for the heroes inside themselves.”

Dark Night: A True Batman Story will be available in comic book shops on June 15, 2016 and available everywhere books are sold on June 21, 2016.

Frank Miller Returning For The Dark Knight IV

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22982:]]

DC Comics will be doing The Dark Knight IV, which will be written exclusively by Frank Miller.

Miller confirmed the news to Newsarama.

“I thoroughly applaud what [Brian’s] doing,” Miller said. “But now that he’s doing his, it’s now a four-part series. I’m doing the fourth.”

The Dark Knight III: The Master Race comes out November 25th, which is actually written by Brian Azzarello with Miller basically on board as a consultant.

The article states Miller “indicated he was aware of Azzarello’s story, and he emphasized that he supported it” and goes on to note Miller said that after he read The Dark Knight III in full, Miller intends to create his own fourth chapter. It’s not known if Miller will both write and draw the new series (Andy Kubert is doing the art for DKIII).

The Dark Knight III was initially said to be the last of the DK chapters, but Miller now says it’s a four-part series as the article notes:

“According to Miller’s language that the series is now ‘four-part,’ the former ‘trilogy’ would presumably now end after the fourth volume.”

Advanced Review: Superman: American Alien #1 (of 7)

The last few years have been tough on the overall character of Superman. He has been lacking a true form of identity, shifting between a depowered “everyman,” an infected Doomsday clone, as well as the most recent, “god of power” incarnation — while the character of Clark Kent has been left by the wayside to fall into his own obscure oblivion until further called upon.

Well, look no further for a glimmer of hope to bring Clark Kent back to the forefront! Max Landis has crafted a tale of pure joy and wonderment in his Superman: American Alien book, and it will invigorate even the most skeptical of readers, I should know, I am one!

Going into this book, I was dreading what may yet defile DC’s “Golden Boy” even more than what he has endured in the recent past. But from page one, Landis encapsulated the sheer amazement that those tales all lacked and by page two, I wasn’t believing that a boy could fly, but I was damn sure rooting for him to! Landis has woven a tale that brings the heart and soul back to the Superman mythos, and no one should pass it by!

We follow a young Clark Kent that is both frightened of himself and by what may be done to him if anyone learns his secret. His journey is laced with nostalgia and overpowering in youthful invigoration. Readers will find themselves grinning emphatically over Clark’s exuberance and innocent wonder and will feel connected to the character more than they have in years. But this tale is not purely about young Clark, it is about the Kent’s as a family dealing with extraordinary things while trying to teach their adopted son how to act like a man regardless of what his DNA may say.

Landis couldn’t tell this story alone, and Nick Dragotta is the perfect artistic compliment to his tale of a prepubescent Clark. Dragotta’s bold, clean lines accentuate that youthful vigor ever present in the tale while creating crisp action sequences that will make your heart soar!

Max Landis has stated that each issue will revolve around completely different parts of Clark’s life with a different artist for each part as well. If each issue is as complete and thrilling as this first one, fans will not only clamor to get back into the Superman fold but they will bring as many readers with them as they can!

Geoff Johns & Ivan Reis Back On Aquaman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22782:]]

Right in time for Jason Momoa‘s debut as the King Of Atlantis in next March’s Batman Vs. Superman, DC Entertainemnt chief creative officer and DC Comics writer Geoff Johns is returning to Aquaman along with superstar artist Ivan Reis.

Both Johns and Reis launched the New 52 Aquaman comic back in 2011, and now they will be returning for the “Rise of the Seven Seas” storyline that will tie into the Justice League comic as well.

“I can officially say that Ivan Reis, Joe Prado and I have started work on Rise of the 7 Seas! The team is back…” Johns posted on Twitter along with previously released artwork. “We are introducing this mythology piece called the Seven Seas in my last two issues and that’s going to continue into a big Justice League story next year. It warrants Aquaman getting help from the Justice League. It’s too big for him to handle alone, so the seven seas, the seven members of the Justice League — it’s all going to be a nice, big story.”

Zack Snyder Says Ben Affleck Isn’t The Batman He First Imagined (Video)

The co-creator of Batman, Bob Kane, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with Batman Vs. Superman director Zack Snyder in attendance, DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee and more.

Kane created Batman back in 1939 along with Bill Finger, who for the first time this week received credit for creating the Caped Crusader in the DC Comics.

Regarding Zack Snyder, he spoke about Ben Affleck wearing the Batsuit for the first time offering Affleck wasn’t his first choice as the Dark Knight. Here’s the text (via CBM):

I just wanted to first say that it’s an honor to be able to speak here at the dedication of [Bob Kane’s] star as it’s an amazing achievement, and it’s great that we’re all recognizing him because he’s given us an amazing gift wth Batman.

Recently, I got to make this film Batman v Superman, and in the process, I had to design a Batman character. I had to do a suit. “I don’t know if you know anything about the process, but what you do is over months of meticulous designing and editing, you come to an aesthetic you believe will be the Batman you want to see. Along with my costume designer Michael Wilkinson, we did just that and we came to the point where we were going to test the suit on Ben [Affleck]. So, we had built a set of an alley, graffiti, barrels with fire, steamy stuff, and it was this very kind of noir-ish setting to film our Batman for the first time. Ben put the suit on, and we put him in front of the camera, and I was just having him turn and look around looking Batman-ish, and it was amazing because I felt in that moment that I had achieved this goal that I had set out for myself. When I looked at Ben, he was the perfect personification of the Batman I had in my mind.

The truth is, he wasn’t really the Batman I had imagined. Bob really had put him there in my mind, through years of TV shows, comic books, movies. I realized that we all – every single one of us – has a Batman, an imaginary Batman, in our minds, lurking in the shadows. That’s Bob’s legacy.
