The Mandalorian & Grogu: Sigourney Weaver In Talks For Star Wars Movie

Sigourney Weaver may be coming to a galaxy far, far away as it is reported the actress is in talks to star in the upcoming Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu.

No other details are known other than Weaver is in talks to join the cast.

Disney and Lucasfilm first announced The Mandalorian & Grogu movie back in January with word that Jon Favreau is directing.

THR adds in their report about Sigourney Weaver joining The Mandalorian & Grogu that Pedro Pascal is expected back as Mando.

It’s also said filming is expected to take place later this year, which will be the first Star Wars movie to start production in six years, since Rise of Skywalker back in 2018.

When it comes to sci-fi and science-fiction, Sigourney Weaver is a legend as she starred in Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise as Ripley. She’s also known for the Ghostbusters movie and recently returned in Afterlife. Weaver also stars in Disney’s Avatar movies.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau when the film was first announced. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, at the time.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is expected to be released May 22, 2026.
