Star Wars: Sigourney Weaver Confirms Her Role in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

Sigourney Weaver has officially confirmed her involvement in the new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Back in May saw it reported the actress who is a legend in the sci-fi genre was in talks for the film.

While specific details about her character remain under wraps, she confirmed her involvement in Jon Favreau’s galaxy far, far away with Deadline.

“I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu,” Weaver revealed. “I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day. I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year.”

In addition to The Mandalorian & Grogu, Sigourney Weaver also confirmed appearing in James Cameron’s Avatar 3, 4 and 5.

“I’m looking forward to it. I can’t say much about it right now but it’s fun to bounce between all these different universes,” she added.

What is The Mandalorian & Grogu about?

Official plot details aren’t known, but Disney did recently show off footage at the D23 Expo showing off Mando and Grogu running away from AT-ATs, and Grogu in a pod with Anzellans.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau at the time of the film’s announcement back in January of 2024. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

The Mandalorian & Grogu gets released on May 22, 2026.
