Details and concept designs for the new vehicle featured in Star Wars: Rogue One with the U-Wing are made known.
Disney revealed details in their “Star Wars Show” video, which can be watched below.
“The U-Wing is a new ship in the Star Wars Universe. It’s a troop transport and gun ship.” Matt Martin, creative executive at LucasFilm Story Group said. “So it’s there to bring in Rebel troops to heavy fire zones and get out as quickly as possible.”
“The wings movie depending on the situation,” Martin continued. “It’s there to both drop off troops and provide air support. [The full technical name is] INCOM UT-60D.”
It’s also revealed that the very first piece of Star Wars: Rogue One concept art from last year’s Star Wars Celebration featured the U-Wing dropping off troops. And the image featured above is a new still.
“Star Wars: Rogue One” has a December 16, 2016 release directed by Gareth Edwards starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, who plays a performance-capture character in Rogue One, and Riz Ahmed.
Synopsis:
Rogue One tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.
