Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Tops 1 Billion Views, Makes More History

Spider-Man: Brand New Day keeps smashing records.

Variety now reports the trailer has become the first movie trailer ever to cross 1 billion views. S

ony released the trailer on May 17, and it reached the milestone in just four days. Per WaveMetrix, the trailer has now hit 1.1 billion views, which further extends its lead as the biggest movie trailer launch in history.

First Movie Trailer Ever To Hit 1 Billion

That puts Brand New Day in a class by itself.

The trailer had already made headlines when it pulled in 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours, which made it the biggest trailer launch ever for any movie or video game.

Variety’s earlier report also said it hit 373 million views in only eight hours, enough to beat the previous movie record before the first day was even over.

Deadpool, Wolverine, And No Way Home All Passed

Before Brand New Day, the record for biggest movie trailer launch belonged to Deadpool & Wolverine with 365 million views in 24 hours.

Before that, Spider-Man: No Way Home held the mark with 355.5 million views in 24 hours. Brand New Day has now passed both and kept going.

The trailer also topped the overall 24-hour trailer record previously held by Grand Theft Auto VI, which posted 475 million views. That means Spider-Man did not just set a new movie record. It took the overall crown as well.

Big Buzz Could Mean Big Box Office

That kind of momentum is the sort of thing Sony has to love heading into release.

Variety pointed out that Spider-Man: No Way Home also set records with its trailer before going on to gross $1.9 billion worldwide.

Brand New Day is now outpacing that movie’s early trailer numbers by a huge margin, which only adds to the growing hype around Tom Holland’s return.
