Sorry: No Namor For Marvel Studios Says Kevin Feige; How About From Thomas Tull and Legendary?

Sorry: No Namor For Marvel Studios Says Kevin Feige; How About From Thomas Tull and Legendary?

Well, there goes my pick for Vin Diesel, as Kevin Feige has let it be known that Marvel Studios does not own the rights to Namor.

While I was unsure of who owned the character, thinking Fox actually may have owned the rights to Namor as the Submariner is known as “the first mutant,” or that Marvel Studios did as there was speculation of a possible Namor appearance in The Avengers when it first became known a “Leviathan” creature was to be featured; it turns out both are not the case.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, when asked about Namor, Feige replied, “That’s at Universal.”

So now we know that Namor will not be popping up in any of the Marvel Studios movies.

However, obviously that doesn’t rule out Universal launching their own Namor movie, and what’s interesting, is that big time comic book fan Thomas Tull recently took his Legendary Entertainment to Universal having moved on from Warner Bros.

Tull produced and co-financed Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Triology as well as Man of Steel. Perhaps Tull and Legendary might give Namor a try on the big screen? And will they be able to do it before WB launches Aquaman?

I would also be curious to know what other Marvel properties (if any) go along with Namor as a lot of the character’s villains and such seem to be shared amongst the other Marvel characters.

Tiger Shark, maybe?
