Sophie Turner Injury Pauses Tomb Raider Series Production

Sophie Turner Injury Pauses Tomb Raider Series Production

Sophie Turner has suffered an injury while filming Amazon’s Tomb Raider series, and production has now been temporarily paused.

Entertainment Weekly reports Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the pause in a statement, saying Turner recently experienced a minor injury and that filming has briefly shut down as a precaution while she recovers.

The studio added that it expects production to resume as soon as possible.

In a new interview, Turner hints she will be involved with Tomb Raider for years to come, so she appears to be okay.

Amazon Confirms Production Pause

According to the statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, the injury is considered minor, but Amazon is taking no chances with its lead star.

The studio said the break is purely precautionary and tied to giving Turner time to recover before cameras start rolling again.

That means the latest setback is not being framed as a major production problem, but it does temporarily halt momentum for the high-profile Prime Video adaptation.

Filming Only Recently Started

Amazon previously announced that production on Tomb Raider began on January 15, 2026, following the release of the first-look image of Turner as Lara Croft.

The series stars Turner as Lara Croft and features Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Bill Paterson, Celia Imrie, and Martin Bobb-Semple as part of the supporting cast. Phoebe Waller-Bridge serves as creator and writer on the series.

Another Bump For The Long-Developing Series

The live-action Tomb Raider series has taken a long road to get in front of cameras, so any pause is going to get attention. Still, Amazon’s wording suggests this is a short-term delay rather than anything more serious.

There is still no release date announced for the series.
