Sadie Sink is joining Tom Holland and Zendaya in the MCU, having been cast in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
In a new interview with Deadline, the actress known for Stranger Things, responded to questions about who she is playing, as rumors are running rampant.
Per the norm, Sadie Sink couldn’t say much, but she said the rumors she has been reading online are “awesome”:
I see a lot of rumors too. They’ve been really cool to read. I love the Marvel Universe. I mean they’re awesome rumors.
What are the Sadie Sink Spider-Man rumors?
Prior to her official casting in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, rumors ran wild that Sadie Sink was playing a member of the X-Men with Jean Grey. It’s known that Kevin Feige is developing an X-Men movie following Secret Wars. As Sadie Sink sports a lovely shade of red locks just like Marvel’s Phoenix, the rumor showed merit.
However, once it was announced that Sadie Sink would star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the likelihood of her playing Jean Grey seemed in doubt, as why would Jean Grey, an X-Men, first appear in a Spider-Man movie?
Well, I put it together that since the rumor said Sadie Sink is playing a mutant, maybe she is playing a different mutant than Jean Grey? We’re also still in the midst of Feige’s Multiverse Saga.
I threw it out there, and then the scoopers all picked up on it, that Sadie Sink could be playing May Parker, who is the daughter of Peter Parker and MJ from an alternate universe. Yep, she’s a mutant and has spider-powers of her own, who goes by Spider-Girl. For the record, it’s just a guess and I have no insider info.
It’s also thought that as a result of everyone forgetting who Peter is after what happened in No Way Home, that he gets a new group of friends, so Sadie Sink’s character could be among them. Rumors also offer Steven Yeun might be Pete’s new buddy, and that four possible villains appearing include Scorpion, Boomerang, Tombstone, and Lady Chameleon.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a July 31, 2026 release date, directed by Shang-Chi‘s Destin Daniel Cretton.
The release date could change, as Marvel Studios recently announced the delay of both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. It has been said the story in Spider-Man: Brand New Day runs concurrently with Doomsday.
The plot follows the events of No Way Home where everybody has forgotten about Peter Parker.
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about,” producer Amy Pascal said in a recent interview.
