*Warning: Spoilers*

Barry Allen is startled awake from a slumber that will be the last thing that seems normal. The world he opens his weary eyes upon, is similar but distinctly not his own. In this world, everything he had previously lost has been returned — but in true fairness, he is now without all the things he had once held dear. His friends and wife no longer recognize him, the Justice League does not exist and somehow, and most damning of all, neither does the Flash! Barry is alone, powerless and the only one who knows that this world is not as it should be. Welcome to Flashpoint — a world you have never known!

Geoff Johns truly knows how to kick off an event! Regardless of how they wind up, Johns first issues are completely enthralling — this one is no different. He has a way of generating pure excitement within a tale, all the while enticing you to unravel the mystery at the heart of it. With this issue he unveils his new world and introduces us to the players of the drama, a cast mixed with familiar faces and ones that we have never seen before. Heroes and villains have become intertwined, C-list characters have risen to top tier rankings and even those that have been dead for decades — now stand before us in all their powerful glory! This is how you weave a tale of pure comic goodness!

Accompanying Johns on his quest to re-imagine the DCU, is none other than the astounding Andy Kubert! If you want your book to explode with un-adulterated action as well as pull at emotional heartstrings — you call Andy Kubert! From an embrace with a loved one long thought dead, to a splash page of assembled heroes high atop a rooftop — he is the poster child of artistic talent. Clean, crisp lines make the characters pop off the page while his attention to minute detail, makes our heroes truly electric. Don't believe me, just wait until you see Captain Thunder!

Johns and Kubert converge on a story that burns brighter than Brightest Day, has the tenacity of Blackest Night and the pure adrenaline of Emerald Warriors! Get in on the ground floor of DC's next big summer event, one that promises to astound and excite readers for the next few months. Personally, Johns has got me hook, line and sinker. I cannot wait to see the paths we will be led down to determine if a man, misplaced and powerless, can correct the anomalies to his time before they become permanent. Exciting, fresh and intriguing wraps it up in a nutshell, all I have left to say is — bring on the mini series!
