Summary
- Â Zack Snyderâs Rebel Moon Part One received negative reviews from both critics and fans on Rotten Tomatoes and Audience Score
- Â A directorâs cut is expected to be released in the summer, but the controversy surrounding the film remains
- Snyder acknowledges the polarizing response to his movies and believes there is nothing in Rebel Moon that would warrant such strong reactions
Sitting at a ârottenâ 21% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 58% Audience Score, both the critics and fans werenât too thrilled with Zack Snyderâs Rebel Moon Part One on Netflix.
Itâs known a big directorâs cut is coming this summer but that hasnât stopped the controversy surrounding the film; in my review, I said it was complete trash.
Speaking with Empire Magazine, Zack Snyder responds to the backlash.

What does Zack Snyder say about the Rebel Moon reviews?
Zack is actually no stranger to negative reviews as Batman Vs Superman has a 29% Rotten Tomatoes Score and Sucker Punch has a 22% score.
âI donât really have a rebuttal to the reviews,â he told Empire about Rebel Moon. âFor whatever reason, the reaction to my movies is very polarising, and it always has been.â
Snyder added, âThe movie, it doesnât seem like thereâs that much in it that would warrant such visceral responses.â
What is wrong with Rebel Moon?
Without including my whole review, the gist of what is wrong with Rebel Moon, IMO, is the editing, which is simply atrocious and lands at the feet of Snyder for being responsible.
Yeah, the six hour cut can help with development, but how about the parts where the spear goes through the spaceshipâs shield that has to be able to withstand objects while flying at light speed in space (or whatever)? Or how about when the spaceship gunner is taken out, it takes out the entire ship? Huh? Maybe what was supposed to happen was the gunner was supposed to take out the ship??? Or could the glass have been weakened first???
Itâs stuff like that which makes no sense and makes Rebel Moon a truly awful and frustrating watching experience and makes me question that either Zack Snyder doesnât give a fâk (about the movie and the audience) or heâs simply incompetent as fk.
Snyder doesnât know what would warrant the visceral responses? Did he watch the same fân movie we all did?! Again, does he give a fk?
Iâd love for someone to ask Zack about it, and how come no one at Netflix or his producer team doesnât call him out about it? Are they ALL that fâd up???
Rebel Moon â Part Two: The Scargiver premieres only on Netflix on April 19, 2024.
