Punisher: One Last Kill Trailer Becomes Marvel’s Most-Watched

A new report says Marvel may have a real hit on its hands with The Punisher: One Last Kill.

While Daredevil: Born Again seemingly fades away, according to THR, the trailer for Jon Bernthal’s upcoming special presentation is the most-watched trailer for a Marvel special presentation, per their insiders.

Specific numbers were not released by the site, so there’s no public data yet to compare it directly against Marvel’s other Disney+ specials. The official Marvel YouTube lists the trailer currently at 5.5 million views in 8 days, but that doesn’t include trailer views across social media and the like.

Still, the claim is notable considering the only previous Marvel special presentations were Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Marvel released the trailer last week, and the special premieres May 12 on Disney+. You can watch the trailer below.

Marvel may have finally found a real Punisher draw

The reported trailer performance points to something pretty obvious: fans are showing up for Frank Castle.

Bernthal’s Punisher has remained one of Marvel’s most popular street-level characters, and the response to the trailer seems to back that up.

The official setup from Marvel says Frank Castle is searching for meaning beyond revenge when an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight, which gives the special a more personal angle while still leaning into the violent tone fans expect.

Jon Bernthal‘s The Punisher: One Last Kill trailer is the most-watched for a Marvel special presentation, per insiders. (Other special presentations were the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Werewolf by Night.) Specific data wasn’t available.

The Punisher returns May 12

Even without the hard numbers, the message is pretty clear. Punisher is cutting through in a way Marvel’s other special presentations didn’t.

If the THR report holds up, One Last Kill has already done something Marvel’s previous specials never managed: turn a trailer drop into a real event.
