New Batman Vs. Superman Trailer Falls Short In Viewings

While Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War trailer broke all kinds of records, WB’s second Batman Vs. Superman trailer actually sees a decline in viewings.

While it should be noted the Civil War trailer was the first for the movie, both Batman Vs. Superman full trailers together barley come near it.

Civil War netted 61 million views in its first 24 hours, with the latest Batman Vs. Superman trailer only seeing 23 million views, which is 7 million less than the first Dawn of Justice full teaser.

Variety does note this could be a natural decline, as it’s really the fourth teaser for BvS (a scene was released prior to the new trailer), but the Batman Vs. Superman trailer has been met with mixed reactions.

The trailer hasn’t been received all that favorably online – especially seeing how it seemingly reveals so much and fans aren’t happy with the look of whatever Zod becomes – as well as Eisenberg’s depiction of Luthor. It’s just never a good thing when the fan base is split in two, which is what happened with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and we all know that movie started off strong, but ended with a whimper. Say what you want about Man of Steel, but following its huge opening there was talk of a Man of Steel sequel; however, the movie petered out only bringing in $660 million — and talk of a “Superman 2” was swept under the rug in favor of adding Batman.

My two cents regarding the look of whatever Zod becomes: It looks awful. The special effects are on par with what Singer did with Apocalypse. I certainly hope this isn’t “Doomsday,” as if it is, it takes a lot away from the character. Obviously, this “Doomsday” isn’t going to kill Superman. It’s such a waste of a character. I’m guessing we’ll be hearing shortly from Snyder on the topic who will say something along the lines of, “It’s my version, dude.” I’m hoping he actually comes out and says it’s not Doomsday. Maybe Bizarro? Eh, still looks terrible, guys.

Regarding Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, it’s still a toss up for me. We do know that script was tweaked to accomodate using Jesse Eisenberg, and we can guess the original Goyer script used an older more typical comic book-inspired Lex Luthor. It’s my guess Luthor in the movie will eventually better resemble Lex we know from the comics, which will be represented by Lex losing his hair and going bald.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
