Netflix Reveals Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 Release Date

Netflix has announced the release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2. The live-action series returns June 25, 2026, with Aang and the Gaang heading deeper into the Earth Kingdom as the war with the Fire Nation continues.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 arrives in June

The new season will take the story into Ba Sing Se, which Netflix says has been brought to life on a much bigger scale. A behind-the-scenes video released by Netflix also previews upgraded practical sets, new bending action, and a more mature chapter for the characters.

Executive producer Christine Boylan said getting the back lot to build Ba Sing Se was a major moment for the series, while executive producer Jabbar Raisani said Season 2 pushes the characters forward as they continue figuring out who they are in the middle of the war.

Toph joins the live-action series

Season 2 also brings in one of the most anticipated characters from the animated series: Toph Beifong. Netflix says the blind earthbending master will train Aang, with the two expected to have a rocky relationship early on.

The addition of Toph should be one of the biggest draws for fans, especially with the story now moving fully into Earth Kingdom territory. Netflix also says Season 3, which will be the final season, has already wrapped production.

Netflix is going bigger with Season 2

From the sound of it, Netflix is treating Season 2 as a big step up from the first season. Between the larger sets, the expanded worldbuilding, and the introduction of fan-favorite characters, the new episodes look like they are aiming to feel bigger in scope and darker in tone. That lines up with Boylan teasing the “dark center of a trilogy” as the series heads toward its final chapter.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 premieres June 25 on Netflix.
