Lea Seydoux Cast As Female Lead In Gambit

It’s being reported that Lea Seydoux has landed the female lead in Gambit, cast as Bella Donna.

Seydoux, who will be featured in the upcoming James Bond Spectre movie, was among a short list of actresses up for the part that also included Rebecca Ferguson and Abbey Lee.

In the comics, Bella Donna is the long time love interest of Gambit and daughter to the leader of the Assassin’s Guild, the rivals to Gambit’s Thieve’s Guild.

“Gambit” has an October 7, 2016 release directed by “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” Ruper Wyatt and starring Channing Tatum.

Another Possible Spider-Man Costume Tease From Russo Brothers Twitter

We get another possible teaser for the new Tom Holland Spider-Man costume from the alleged Russo Bros. Twitter account.

A month ago saw a batch of images tweeted out from the same account, only for Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn to come out and say it’s a fake; however, Gunn ended up deleting that tweet leading to speculation the Russo Brothers Twitter account is actually legit or at least is a part of some sort of Marvel promotion.

Anthony and Joe Russo are directing Captain America: Civil War, which will first feature Tom Holland as Peter Parker and potentially Spider-Man.

Friday, September 4th marks “Force Friday,” the day Disney will unleash the Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise upon the world.

Now it’s learned select Target stores will be opening at midnight to kick off the event.

Thanks to Target worker on Reddit, TargetRebelSpy, details and images have become known.

• 207 Target stores are opening at midnight on Force Friday, Sept. 4, so you can be the first to get all the Star Wars: The Force Awakens items.

• Check target.com and enter your zip code to find participating stores.

• While not every Target story is participating in the midnight launch, Target stores are participating in “Share The Force Saturday,” which is labeled as an “exciting in-store event that will include an exclusive giveaway and unique interactive photo opportunities got guests to #sharetheforce on social media.”

• The front of the stores will have stormtrooper door clings, an “interactive Chewbacca stanchion” and an overhead TIE fighter. In the seasonal department, Target stores will have an X-Wing fight cockpit photo op and an overheard TIE fighter/X-Wing fight scene.

• Each store will also have one or two 48″ Darth Vaders that will retail at $99.99.

Star Wars: Rogue One Stormtrooper Helmet Designs Leak Online

Chinese action star Donnie Yen has taken to Instagram to reveal a look at the Stormtrooper helmet designs for Star Wars: Rogue One.

Yen appears to have yanked the image, but screenshots have been captured, with Yen adding: “I am the force and I fear nothing… Going to put this in my company’s display room.”

Chiwetel Ejiofor Excited For Doctor Strange

Following confirmation at the recent D23 Expo that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be playing Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange, the actor offers he is looking forward to it.

Ejiofor confirms to EW.com that he is doing the movie with: “I am doing Doctor Strange, and I’m incredibly excited about it.”

However, per the norm, Ejiofor can’t say much.

“That’s all I say,” he said.

Ejiofor did go on to mention co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swintona as well.

“He’s a good friend of mine,” Ejiofor said of Cumberbatch, who costarred with Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave. “So, it’s gonna be fun. And Tilda Swinton — I haven’t worked with her, but I’m excited to work with her. She’s brilliant.”

“Doctor Strange” has a November 4, 2016 release directed by Scott Derrickson starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One. Rachel Adams is also rumored for the female lead.

Last night saw the stars of Suicide Squad attend a wrap party, and previous to that, Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney paid visit to a six-year-old’s lemonade stand in Toronto which is run by a girl whose brother has a rare genetic disorder.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron Illuminati Easter Egg

Here is an Easter Egg from The Avengers: Age Of Ultron I haven’t seen referenced anywhere.

The Avengers 2 Blu-Ray happens to be released somewhere in a what looks to be a foreign country as the gag reel and Thanos-mid credit scene has hit the net.

Now screenshots are beginning to surface, with a fan posting Ulysses Klaue’s file on Reddit (see below).

Not only does the file mention T’Chaka and Panther (T’Chaka is Black Panther T’Challa’s father), but also the Bilderberg’s.

Here is the relevant transcription:

Ulysses Klaue was an assassin hired to take down T’Chaka at the Bilderberg conference in the case that he refused to negotiate Wakanda’s resources including Vibranium. But, Klaue was also there personally, as the Panther killed his great-grandfather in the 19th century while this one was trying to annex Wakanda. He was paid ten million dollars for the kill.

As anyone knows who reads the Marvel Comics, the clandestine group made up of Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Professor Xavier, Reed Richards, Black Bolt and originally Black Panther (BP left early, but returns later), is known as the Illuminati and first appeared in an issue of New Avengers.

Of course, Bendis didn’t come up with the name himself, as the Illuminati is a reference to a group of powerful super-secret men who rule the world following the Luciferian “I am god” philosophy.

Now the connection to the Bilderberg Group is that the Bilderberg group is made up of members of the Illuminati who hold an annual meeting discussing the direction the world is to take in the year to come. The group is made up of the powerful elite and are all from different walks of life, philosophy, governments, religions, political parties, but the real kicker is they share the common Illuminati thinking, which is their actual belief, and not any of the aforementioned traits.

Okay, history lesson over, with Marvel referencing the Bilderberg Group in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, it’s possible down the road the Illuminati could be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or maybe even in Captain America: Civil War. Iron Man formed the Marvel Illuminati in an attempt to mold and shape the status of the superhuman world around them. The Illuminati were involved with the after-math of the Kree-Skrull War, Secret Wars, Marvel Boy, The Sentry, The Infinity Gauntlet and other events. Relevant to Civil War is that Tony Stark attempted to sway the members into agreeing with the Superhero Registration Act, but only Reed Richards sided with him.

Obviously, things would be a bit different in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Xaver and Richards are owned by Fox Studios, but Marvel Studios could easily replace the two. We also see the Klau file makes mention that the Bilderberg meeting seems to be old in nature (older than Tony Stark), which may mean the Marvel Studios Illuminati could be made up of Stark’s father, Howard, T’Chaka, Hank Pym, creators of SHIELD, etc.

Some other interesting aspects of the Marvel Comics Illuminati is that the group was responsible for launching Hulk out into space (Planet Hulk, World War Hulk), and Blackbolt disagreed with the SHRA and instead launched a war against the U.S. in Silent War (Marvel has slated the Inhumans movie for a 2019 release).

If anything, it shows that Marvel Studios pays attention to the comics by including the Bilderberg’s into their MCU as that is essentially a part of the Illuminati.

George Miller Said To Be Directing Man Of Steel 2

It’s being stated that George Miller will be directing Man of Steel 2.

The info comes from Jon Schnepp, who recently released the The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened? documentary.

Schnepp appeared on the Popcorn Talk YouTube podcast where he dropped the news.

“Yeah, George Miller,” Schnepp responded matter-of-factly when questioned about who is directing the Man of Steel sequel. “He’s doing Man of Steel 2. I don’t feel weird about breaking it, so… Yeah. Obviously, Zack Snyder is doing Justice League [Part] 1 and 2. We already got James Wan doing Aquaman… But, yeah, I think George Miller is the perfect choice to do Man of Steel 2. He’s going to bring so much to it.”

As fans know, George Miller was attached to the defunct 2008 Justice League movie that was to feature Armie Hammer as Batman, DJ Cotrona as Superman, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Adam Brody as The Flash, Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman.

While Man of Steel 2 isn’t offically a part of the WB slate of announced DC movies, it was reported that standalone Batman and Superman movies would be forthcoming.

David Ayer Teases More Of Midway City For Suicide Squad

Following the Suicide Squad tattoos, director David Ayer has now taken to Twitter to tease the hometown of Hawkman with Midway City.

Ayer posted a pic of the Midway Fire Department.

This is at least the second time images from the set featured Midway City, as previous set pics revealed Midway City Square and police cruisers.

Captain America: Civil War Wraps

And that’s a wrap for Captain America: Civil War as filming has finished in Germany marking the end of production.

The Imperii bar and restaurant in Germany posted the following images on Facebook adding: “Hollywood in Leipzig.. Last night, the Marvel Filmcrew celebrated the end of the shooting in germany to the new “Captain America”.. Thank you for this Party!!”

Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Chadwick Boseman were in attendance at the wrap party along with Scarlett Johansson (who is not seen in the pics, though her autograph is).

Marvel co-president and producer Louis D’Esposito announced the end of principal photography on Twitter as well.

First Look At Star Trek Beyond Set Video

Star Trek Beyond has been filming in Vancouver for the last month, but has been doing most of its work indoors, where prying eyes can’t get an early look at the new costumes and new characters. Well, that all changed this week as director Justin Lin took the Star Trek cast and crew outside to shoot a big action scene and we’ve got an exclusive first look at the film, including the new Starfleet uniforms and a major new character in the franchise!

“Deadpool” has a February 12, 2016 release directed by Tim Miller starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax.

It’s a social media war of epic proportions as Hugh Jackman takes on Jim Carrey!

A couple of days ago saw Hugh Jackman post a video of himself on Instagram giving homage to the classic Jim Carrey Mask movie.

“Smokin’!” Jackman said as he contorted his face to look like Carrey’s from the 1994 movie.

Jackman added to the post: “#JimCarrey mate trying my best to do justice! Clearly, I should stay in my own lane.”

Jim Carrey caught wind of the impression, so he posted one his own of Wolverine on Twitter.

“Nice move @RealHughJackman Now watch me make a meal out of your biggest role. ;^>” Carrey fired back.

Maybe Jim Carrey could be the bad guy in the next Wolverine movie?

A Film review of Straight Outta Compton

Biopic films can sometimes be a difficult sell to studios and audiences because some can get too focused on heavy-handed performances and dramatic historical recreations. They also tend to move awfully slow and get a bit chatty as most individuals selected for this sort of Hollywood treatment aren’t exactly James Bond types. Straight Outta Compton is a film that plays like a biopic, but never loses sight of maintaining a high entertainment value thanks to two important factors. First, the individuals that comprised the NWA lived real lives that interwove with some of the most signature elements showcased in cinematic crime dramas such as guns, drugs, gangs, money, violence, loyalty, betrayal, ego and unbridled psychosis. These dangers were as real as they were common to these young men as the audience bears witness to a number of specific incidents involving the main characters that directly explains where they come from, why they feel the way they do and how it all inspired their music. Second, as seductive as all of the aforementioned vices may be on the fictional screen, they all constitute secondary window dressing to the music of NWA. With a multitude of scenes that use original recordings, the energy of some of NWA’s slickest tracks keeps the audience engaged with aggressive beats and defiant lyrics.

“Art reflecting life” was clearly the name of the game for this expertly casted, performed, directed and produced example of cinema. However, the audience should be made well aware that this film prizes the concept of legacy above all else so expect a lot of pulled punches when the mirror is held not-so-directly upon the individuals of NWA; specifically Dr. Dre. Ice Cube and Dr. Dre were at the epicenter of this film’s production staff as their firsthand accounts, attention to detail and mentoring of the young actors portraying their past selves certainly enhanced the overall quality of the film. But, director F. Gary Gary is boys with Cube and Dre having directed Friday (1995) as well as music videos for both and he certainly protects everyone that has the most to lose about revisiting parts of the past deemed too brutal for general audiences. Perhaps this is the reason why John Singleton (Boyz ‘n the Hood, Higher Learning) wasn’t tapped to direct this film because his style would demand showing at least some aspect of Dre’s admitted violence against women to raise the stakes and the drama. To suggest that this movie presents a revisionist’s history concerning NWA’s individuals is the understatement of the century.

Be that as it may, I must remind the reader that this biopic is still a work of fiction and (as with The Imitation Game) is not a documentary designed to expose fact. Straight Outta Compton is a drama rooted in a popular corner of the music business culture, but electrified by uncommonly refined performances by a raw cast of relative unknowns. Even putting aside the fact that most of these young men are the spitting image of which they portray (especially Marcc Rose as Tupac in a short scene where I’m certain necromancy was involved in its creation), the sincerity and visceral execution of the cast’s performance makes this movie Oscar worthy. The audience feels the frustration, the ambivalence, the defiance and the ascendancy. I would be shocked if Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E doesn’t at least get a nomination for best male lead or best supporting performance from the Academy.

Action Style	There is a surprising amount of action for this film as its first moments make it seem like Eazy-E is some true to life action star, but this eventually reverts to typical dramatic action through the general application of common violence during what may seem like uncommon times.	4/6
Action Frame	There are no moments of stagnation during this film as there is a constant change in scenery as well as dynamic camera work during NWA concerts. Close-ups are not abused and truly mark the moments of high drama.	3/5
Lead Performance	O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Ice Cube), Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre), and Jason Mitchell (Eazy-E) completely buy into their roles and embody their characters fully. The shear quality of their performance is a sight to see.	6/6
Supporting Performance	Paul Giamatti matches tone quite well with the young guns of the rest of the cast. R. Marcos Taylor is almost as psychotic scary as the real life Suge Knight. Did I mention Tupac was channeled from beyond?	5/5
Music	The music is as important as any one character in this entire film. Nothing about this story is relevant without it.	6/6
Sound F/X	Seemed good enough throughout. Nothing notably negative to report.	3/5

Special F/X	Minimal use of gunfire and its residual effects, but cruising cars with hydraulics and how they “light up” the streets was fun to see.	2/5
Costumes	Biopics are always going for authenticity (at least regarding the look) and this production obviously raided the accumulated inventory of Lids to get part of the job done. Still, the wardrobe isn’t particularly exciting.	3/6
Hair & Makeup	Exceedingly good casting shares in the excellent work being done to make the actors look their parts as well as possible.	5/5
Exteriors	Impoverished Compton is a far cry from the lavish hotels and even more lavish domiciles secured by the wealthiest of the NWA.	5/6
Interiors	Very interesting to see the evolution of the recording studios from the one NWA initially rents out all the way to the sharpness of Death Row Records.	4/5

“Picture” = 19/27

Hook	Learning a bit more details about the culmination of the NWA and the rise of Gangsta Rap may only be interesting to some. You don’t need to be a fan of rap to appreciate this film, but it certainly helps.	¾
Conflict	Jerry Heller may be the de facto “villain,” but his portrayal is very sympathetic. More interesting is the conflict the group experiences from the life they left to the life they were rewarded with is the fitting definition of more money, more problems.	4/4
Resolution	The story ends on a somber, yet very practical book end to this story of NWA, but the “aftermath” effects of the group’s influence was a commercial for Beats and Ice Cube movies and it left a sour, corporate, taste in my mouth.	2/4
Dialogue	Authentic dialogue is really interesting when west coast terminology needs to be explained to east coast talent. You don’t need to be fluent in Ebonics to comprehend what’s going on for the rest of the film.	4/6
Exposition	The audience has a good grasp of the overall activity as we’re constantly reminded of the time and place thanks to a healthy application of titles, but the details do drop off as to why we get to the places we get to and how the characters have changed during those transitions.	2/5
Character Uniqueness	Why is it that music stars always seem like the most eccentric out of the entire celebrity class? Well, it’s because they are.	5/6
Character Relatability	Not all of America can identify with the harsh realities of the urban ghetto, but even less can empathize with machine guns on tour, parties populated by exclusively naked women and dog fights in the recording studio.	2/5

“Story” = 22/34

Overall MPS Rating: 68/94 or 72%

Approaching this movie as any sort of inside track on the “real” happenings of the NWA would be a mistake because the propaganda of the film conflicts with police reports of reality. The better mindset would be simply sitting down to be entertained by a screen story inspired by true events. It is one heck of an entertaining tale that strikes a great balance between poignant drama and lyric action with a dash of laugh-out-loud comedic beats, but viewer be forewarned; this is a very male centric film. It depicts women as eye candy set pieces and obstacles to productivity, so this may not be the best movie to plan a date night around. Despite all the legitimate criticism this production deserves, it would be a crime to dismiss the excellent performances displayed by the entire cast. Gritty, gutsy and as true to life as the public personas they presented to the world is the least that can be said of all the actors fortunate enough to be a part of this film. As the fall approaches, so too does the Hollywood award season and I consider Straight Outta Compton as an early contender for some Oscar gold; that is of course, if Dre and Cube are willing to play a bit more Hollywood politics to get in that race.
