Idris Elba Wants Bigger Role In MCU

Idris Elba Thor Ragnarok

Idris Elba plays the all-seeing eye of Asgard with Heimdall, the cosmic watcher from a distance who returns for Thor: Ragnarok this November.

EW.com posted the following new image as well as details that Idris Elba actually wants a larger role in the MCU.

“I like that I have a little part in Thor. I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love. The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great,” Idris Elba said.

Idris Elba then continues with mention of wanting a larger MCU role.

“I wish I was more present in the Marvel family. I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe. It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more. I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that,” Idris Elba said.

The article also notes that Idris Elba hasn’t been approached for a role in Black Panther or asked to play any other character; so if we’ll have to wait and see if Marvel has more plans for the actor.

Idris Elba is a big fan-favorite to play Green Lantern John Stewart in the DCEU, so he could always jump ship.
