Morgan Freeman Not Sure About Ben Affleck As Batman; Surprised About The Reboot

Morgan Freeman, who starred in the Christopher Nolan The Dark Knight Trilogy movies as Lucius Fox, just heard about the news of Ben Affleck being named the new Batman.

Speaking with USA Today, the actor says that it’s the first he’s heard about it and is surprised they are rebooting Batman so fast.

This is the first I am hearing of it. My first reactions are ‘Wow’ and ‘Good luck.’

After the trilogy, I thought that no one would try it again for a few years more to let this whole thing die down. Because it’s still there. So I don’t know, I hope Ben does well.

Freeman goes on to state that he doesn’t think he will be reprising his character for the new Batman/Superman movie because if they are introducing a new Batman, most likely they will do the same for the other characters as well.

If the new movie does have a Lucius Fox I don’t think it’s going to be me. It doesn’t seem to work to mix characters in the movies. If you are going to change the lead character, you’re probably going to change all the characters.

In addition to Freeman, other Hollywood creators and actors have let their thoughts be known about Ben Affleck as the new Batman include Joss Whedon, Val Kilmer and Wil Wheaton, and Henry Cavill.

The sequel to “Man of Steel” goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
