One of the best series on Paramount+ happens to be canceled with Evil, which stars Mike Colter, but maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel, as the actor played Luke Cage for Marvel on Netflix.
Evil Season 4 will be the last
Regarding Evil getting canceled, Paramount+ unfortunately announced the “fan-favorite and critically acclaimed original series” will have its final season with Season 4 that will premiere this May. Read the official announcement below.
The series sees Mike Colter play David Acosta who is studying to be a priest teaming up with Katja Herbers as Kristen Bouchard a forensic psychologist, and Aasif Mandvi as Ben Shakir as a tech expert. They investigate demons, supernatural events, and things that go more than bump in the night. Michael Emerson plays Leland Townsend, the villain of the series, who is also a forensic psychologist but really is seemingly in league with the devil. It’s a great show. I liked it a lot and have been watching since Season 1 thanks to the involvement of Colter who went to school with friends of mine, and they’ve always said how great a guy he is.
With the cancellation comes uproar, as again, Paramount, themselves, calls Evil a “fan-favorite and critically acclaimed original series,” so why the cancellation? Apparently, there is already talk of moving the series possibly to Netflix, where no doubt it would be huge.
“We’re all super sad @paramountplus has decided season 4 is our last,” Herbers tweeted and then deleted, adding “@netflix u up? Care to snatch up the goods??”
Opens the door for Mike Colter as Luke Cage in the MCU?
Yeah, it sucks Evil is getting canceled, but just maybe that opens the door for Mike Colter to return as Luke Cage in the MCU.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have returned from Marvel Netflix, and it’s known Jon Bernthal will be back as Punisher; Daredevil: Born Again reshoots have confirmed both Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are back as their respective characters, Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, and rumors have offered Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones to the MCU, so maybe that means Mike Colter will be back as Luke Cage.
Years ago, my insiders told me Marvel was developing a Luke Cage and Iron Fist “Heroes For Hires” project, so maybe it’s finally happening.

Paramount+ today announced that the final season of fan-favorite and critically acclaimed original series EVIL will premiere this May. Additionally, four bonus episodes have been ordered by the streaming service and are set to begin production soon in New York City for a thrilling series finale.
