MCU Rumors Include Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch Movie, Nova, More

Deadpool & Wolverine has fans excited once again for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now a new batch of rumors should get MCU fans drooling even more.

The rumors include Marvel’s possible plans for Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Elizabeth Olen as Scarlet Witch, the Nova series, and where fans might see Aubrey Plaza next following the newly released Agatha series on Disney+.

Spider-Man Zenadaya and Tom Holland

What do the rumors say?

More Tom Holland Spider-Man in the MCU

The rumors come via Daniel RPK who claims that a big Sony Marvel deal is happening involving Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the MCU.

It’s known Spider-Man 4 is in development, but according to the scooper, big plans involve using Tom Holland as Spidey in more projects.

It’s also said Kevin Feige will oversee the new solo films, with a new Spider-Man trilogy previously rumored to be in the works.

Rumors have also offered Spider-Man 4 will be an “Avengers-level” movie. Some fans are even hoping for Tom Hardy’s Venom to finally crossover with Tom Holland’s Web Slinger thanks to that recent Venom 3 trailer featuring Knull.

It’s also expected that Holland goes on to be featured in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (what a reunion that will be with RDJ!) and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Scarlet Witch Elizabeth Olsen

Scarlet Witch movie in development

Another fan-favorite Marvel character is Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. The last we saw of Wanda was under a pile of rubble at the end of Doctor Strange 2. However, Olsen just said she thinks Wanda could be alive.

Rumors offer a Scarlet Witch movie is in development with WandaVision and Agatha‘s Jac Schaeffer writing the script along with The Marvels‘ Megan McDonnel. Olsen also said she wants the smartest writers to explain how she returns from the dead, so we’ll have to see how it all works out (Agatha and The Marvels haven’t done too well).

Daniel RPK says the Scarlet Witch movie is not expected to start filming anytime soon but it is indeed in development.

Nova 2007 #1

What about Nova?!

Nova is also confirmed to be in development, and it will be a Disney+ series featuring the fan-favorite Marvel Comics character, Richard Rider (fun fact: we got our start by helping Marvel Comics promote the 2007 Nova comic!).

According to Daniel RPK, the Nova series will focus on the Nova Corps in space, which sounds like it means multiple members of the Nova Corps will be used.

Note: The Nova comics also have featured the Nova Corps in space, but what usually happens is that Xandar is destroyed (just like at the start of Infinity War!). The comics focus on Richard Rider on Earth as the lone wolf cub or set in space as Nova Prime.

Unfortunately, when the MCU greenlit James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie, the bozos running Marvel Comics canceled all the cool Nova and GOTG Marvel Cosmic comics to relaunch it to fit with Gunn’s goofy take. Hopefully, the MCU doesn’t go that route and is more inspired by the late Keith Giffen’s Annihilation and Dan Abnett 2007 Nova series, which a recent description from a Marvel exec seems to be hinting at (back in the day, Nova fans even sent Kevin Feige a Nova care package with a hat and more!).

aubrey plaza focused poster for agatha all along

More MCU appearances for Aubrey Plaza?

Agatha premiered last night, so the new rumor is that Aubrey Plaza will be sticking around the MCU and will be making more appearances.

Daniel RPK says Aubrey Plaza is expected to appear in more Marvel projects post Agatha All Along.

Agatha isn’t looking like it is doing too well, both critically and with viewership ratings, so I would be surprised to see anyone appearing in that series continuing on in the MCU. Hey, you never know, if anyone it would be Aubrey Plaza.

I’ll also be surprised if Jac Schaeffer and Megan McDonnel end up being the main writer(s) for the Scarlet Witch movie.
