Dotemu and Tribute Games have released the first extended gameplay footage for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, featuring Nova and Spider-Man in action.
The eight-minute video gives fans a solid look at the beat ’em up’s combat system, visuals, and character mechanics. Watch below.
Nova and Spider-Man in Action
The newly released footage highlights Nova blasting and punching enemies with his energy-based powers, while Spider-Man swings in with fast combos and agility-based attacks. Both characters bring unique playstyles that seem to complement the tag-team feature of the game.
Retro Aesthetic, Modern Systems
The pixel-art style stays true to Dotemu’s retro design approach, similar to their previous TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. The new gameplay also shows off the “Cosmic Swap” system, allowing players to switch between two heroes on the fly to build combos and exploit enemy weaknesses.
The levels shown range from galactic landscapes to what looks like futuristic city ruins, suggesting a mix of earth-based and space-based missions.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a 2025 retro-style beat ’em up set during a galactic war against Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave. The game blends Marvel’s earth-bound and cosmic heroes into a fast-paced, side-scrolling brawler with local and online co-op.
The game will launch on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5, and Xbox. It’s available to wishlist now on Steam.
