Following the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony will be back in full control of the character, which means no more Spider-Man in the MCU.
However, as the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is still a couple of years away, there is hope Sony and Marvel could come to a new deal.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2‘s Dave Bautista is remaining positive about Marvel and Spider-Man.
While appearing on Chris Jericho’s podcast, Dave Bautista says he thinks Disney/Marvel will get Spider-Man back.
“I think they are doing a partnership now, but I think I don’t know this for sure, I think they are going to re-acquire Spider-Man.”
From the sound of what Dave Bautista is saying, it almost seems like he is saying that Marvel will be buying Spider-Man from Sony, and that they won’t be sharing the character like they are now.
It’s possible Marvel Studios could simply buy just the Spider-Man character, and let Sony have the spinoffs (as Venom, and a Black Cat and Silver Sable movie are in the works, in addition to the animated Miles Morales movie–all without the involvement of Marvel Studios).
Or even better, Disney buys Spider-Man and gets ALL the rights back, including ALL the Spider-Man characters.
Cross your fingers!
