Mark Hamill, who is of course known for voicing the Joker in the DC animated films and video games, happens to be a big-time DC Comics comic book fan, which obviously shouldn’t be a surprise, and it’s not like Hamill became a fan of DC following having worked with them.
Mark Hamill tells Polygon his love for DC came first, prior to Marvel, which is why he is so high on the DC characters.
“I’ve always given the edge to DC,” Hamill said. “I started buying DC comic books during a really whimsical age in the publisher’s time and I was really drawn to that. DC, I mean really, I just discovered it first. Don’t get me wrong, I love Marvel. By the time Marvel made an impact on me, I loved it because it was so irreverent and had this mocking attitude that made DC look like boy scouts. I love them both, but there’s something about your first love that always feels a little more intimate and special.”
Mark Hamill recently premiered his new Pop Culture Quest series with DC Entertainment co-publisher and artist extraordinaire Jim Lee appearing in the first episode.
Hamill also had a lot to saw about the Jared Leto Joker in Suicide Squad and the DCEU in general.
