Diamond released their initial comic book sales numbers for the month of August where it’s learned that Jim Starlin’s OGN, Thanos: The Infinity Revelation, came out on top among graphic novels and trade paperbacks.
The top ten comic books for the month include Batman and Amazing Spider-Man, with Marvel taking five spots, DC four, and Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead from Image Comics nabbing the sixth overall spot.
Month-to-month, sales are down about 23% from July to August, which is pretty normal as last year saw about a 15% drop as well.
Comic profits are slightly up from last year (dollars: 2.40%), but we see the number of comics shipped is just slightly down (units: -2.32%), which means comics are fetching a higher price these days.
Diamond will release the full numbers for the month later.
