Jessica Alba Wants In On The MCU: Offers Vanessa Kirby Fantastic Four Advice

As Marvel Studios prepares to introduce the Fantastic Four into the MCU, Jessica Alba, who portrayed Sue Storm in the 2005 Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer, is reflecting on her time as the Invisible Woman—and she’s not ruling out a return to the Marvel universe.

In a recent interview for her Roku series Honest Renovations, Alba offered advice to Vanessa Kirby, the actress stepping into the role of Sue Storm in the upcoming MCU reboot, Fantastic Four: First Steps.

“I think just have fun. The fans are so amazing. It was probably one of the best times of my life, going around the world and meeting all of the people that just love The Fantastic Four and love these comic books and can relate to these stories,” Alba filled with Collider.

She continued, “That, to me, and to be able to meet so many different people that you can touch and bring joy to them, I would say that’s first and foremost for anyone who gets the honor of playing one of these awesome characters. So I’d tell her to just have fun and soak in the moments.”

On a potential MCU return

Regarding a return to Marvel, back in early July, she said she would jump at the chance to join the MCU, as Deadpool & Wolverine features lots of cameos, and one in particular from her Fantastic Four movies.

“I loved those movies and [it] also changed my life, that series,” Alba mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the time. “No one has talked to me about [a return], but I would jump at the chance.”

She added that she felt Sue Storm was unique in the Marvel universe at the time, especially as one of the few female superheroes. “I loved that character and I felt like she was so unique in the Marvel universe at the time. There weren’t kind of female superheroes like her,” she said.

Loved playing Sue Storm

Reflecting further on her time as Sue Storm, Alba also shared with ComicBook.com back in June how deeply connected she still feels to the character.

“It’s nothing but fond memories,” she said of her time playing Sue Storm in the Fox Marvel movies. “I loved it so much playing that character. I feel like my whole life started in a lot of ways at that moment. I met my life partner, we’re still together, we have three kids. Tim Story, who directed, is still one of my best friends. We have New Year’s Eve together.”

Alba added, “It was great and she was such a cool, inspiring character and ahead of her time, I would say, in the genre. And still, you still haven’t seen someone who is so nurturing and feminine, but then also a fearsome badass. I haven’t seen that combination again. And so I think she still fills this beautiful kind of space or void in the Marvel universe.”

Fantastic Four: The First Steps gets released on July 25, 2025 directed by Matt Shakman and also stars Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the The Thing Ben Grimm.
