Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles Joins The Boys Season 3

Jensen Ackles is going from Supernatural to super-soldier as the actor reveals his next series will be Amazon’s The Boys.

The CW just announced the series finale date for Supernatural, and earlier on Monday, Jensen Ackles took to Instagram to reveal the news about starring in The Boys Season 3.

The video, seen below, shows Ackles contemplating what he is going to do next when he is given a copy of a certain graphic novel — The Boys!

“I keep wondering what I’ll do….when @cw_supernatural finally ends this year. Then it hit me. *volume ⬆️” posted Ackles.

Jensen Ackles on The Boys Season 3 reunites the actor with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke who is the showrunner on the Amazon series.

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment,” Kripke said in a statement. “I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys.”

Jared Padalecki, who will go off to star in a new Walker, Texas Ranger series, congratulated his Supernatural co-star: “Couldn’t be happier for my brother from another mother!! Thrilled you’re gonna keep kicking ass and takin’ names. They’re lucky to have ya.”

In the comic book, Soldier Boy is a parody of Marvel’s Captain America.

The Boys Season 2 premieres Sept. 4.
