Jason Momoa Teases Lobo: David Leitch Wants To Direct

Jason Momoa continues celebrating getting cast as the DCU’s Main Man, and it’s learned David Leitch wants to direct the actor in a Lobo movie.

Momoa posted video of himself along with a look at the Supergirl script stating: “BOOM Day 3 of 2025 I AM LOBO #letsfraggingo aloha j.”

In the comments, David Leitch said: “@prideofgypsies + @davidmleitch Lobo solo movie :)? I’m in JM! It’s a story we were born to tell. This character is all you.”

It’s the second time Leitch has said he wants Lobo. Leitch recently directed Fall Guy and Bullet Train, and he directed Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, and produced John Wick.

Supergirl getting an injection of testosterone

Just prior to the New Year, it was announced that Jason Momoa will be starring as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie which starts filming this month. No specific plot details are known about Lobo but it is known the writer of the comic book who is advising James Gunn originally intended to include Lobo in the story but his editors were against the idea.

We can guess Momoa and Lobo are being included in the Supergirl movie to add in some much needed testosterone, especially if James Gunn and company want to attract the comic book audience.

The girls didn’t show up for Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, or Brie Larson as Captain Marvel , or for Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. They sure as heck didn’t show up for Madame Web. Since it seems unlikely Supergirl will attract the Barbie or even the Wicked audience, Gunn is going to need the male audience to show up. Jason Momoa as Lobo is the answer (hopefully).

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow gets released June 26, 2026 directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira. Starring includes Milly Alock as Supergirl, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Matthias Schoenaerts is playing the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills.
