Jared Leto Joker Movies Canceled

No surprise, but it is being reported the two Jared Leto Joker movies have received the ax, which further backs up my claims the actor is done with the character and DCEU.

In a report by Forbes about the DC movies, it is noted two planned Joker movies have been canceled: “The Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also fallen by the wayside, as has the solo Joker project for Jared Leto’s version of the character from Suicide Squad.”

A month ago I said that more than likely Jared Leto is done as the Joker as a result of the #MeToo movement and DC pushing Harley Quinn as a “hero” and less a victim of the Joker in the upcoming Birds of Prey movie. In addition, it is also said Harley Quinn won’t be a part of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2, and that Leto’s Joker is out from the movie as well, as Gunn will be using a new cast of characters. Ironically, Gunn actually accused Leto of pedophilia; so there was no chance of the Joker ever appearing (as least with Leto in the role). Recent set pics from Birds of Prey also revealed that Harley and Joker have called it quits, and Jared Leto is now starring as Morbius the Living Vampire for the Sony Spider-Man Venom spinoff universe.

We can also add in that DC is going forward with a new Joker, Joaquin Phoenix, albeit a standalone version, but it fits with DC’s new direction that cares less about a shared cinematic universe and simply focuses on producing good movies which follow a good director’s vision.
