James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Reveals Bookstore Paying Tribute To Curt Swan, George Reeves

Crews are currently setting up production in Cleveland, Ohio – the birth place of the Man of Steel – for James Gunn’s Superman movie where set photos reveal a bookstore that pays tribute to Curt Swan and likely George Reeves.

Social media users have posted images and video from Cleveland where “Swan’s Books” is revealed and is located at “712 N. Reeves Ave.”

Curt Swan is a legendary comic book artist mostly associated with Superman who started drawing the character in 1948.

George Reeves played Superman in the Adventures of Superman television series from 1952–1958.

The Daily Planet is not a bookstore

On the window of the bookstore also happens to be a decal for the Daily Planet, but that’s not the Daily Planet logo, the decal is on the window telling customers that Swan’s Books carries “The Daily Planet Best Sellers & Favorites,” much like in the real world how the NY Times has a best seller list.

So no, the Daily Planet isn’t a bookstore. Recent casting announcements confirm the Daily Planet newsroom which includes Beck Bennett playing Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher MacDonald as Ron Troup, and Wendell Pierce is playing Perry White.

Gunn also filming in Georgia

Gunn also posted a set image on social media (above) from what looks to be filming in Georgia for scenes involving the Kent Farm (check out more here).

Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025 starring David Corenswet as Superman and Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Also starring in the film includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela De Faría as the Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Terence Rosemore as Otis. Milly Alcock is also thought to be debuting as Supergirl prior to her own movie.
