Fans of the Man of Steel are eagerly awaiting the first trailer for Superman, and it looks like James Gunn has plans to deliver it soon—possibly as early as next week.
When Will the Superman Trailer Drop?
James Gunn recently hinted at the trailer’s release while answering fan questions on Threads. When one fan asked, “Birthday is Tuesday. I adore Superman. Think I could get a peek at this trailer?” Gunn replied, “In not too overly long, sure.”
Update: A fan also asked if the Superman trailer was still getting released in December. Gunn replied, “Still?” Worth a mention is that Gunn never confirmed a December release but now he seems to be casting doubt it will be released in December.
It’ also been claimed that Gunn will be holding a big press event next week to promote the trailer release.
While Gunn confirmed the trailer won’t drop on Monday, De. 16, he stopped short of denying a release later in the week, potentially aligning it with the debut of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King on December 19 with its Thursday previews.
Superman trailer on Tuesday or Wednesday?
I asked my friend who runs a big movie theater in Los Angeles if he knows if the Superman trailer is attached to Mufasa. He told me trailers usually don’t get finalized until a day before the movie gets released, which in this case would mean Wednesday.
So the Superman trailer could drop that Thursday (19th) or possibly before on Tuesday (the 17th) or Wednesday (the 18th).
First David Corenswet poster likely
It’s also probably a safe guess Gunn will also release the first Superman poster featuring David Corenswet suited up as the new Man of Steel. Gunn’s DC Creature Commandos series recently dropped its first two episodes, and a teaser also shows Corenswet’s Superman for the first time in animated form.
What to Expect from the Superman Trailer
As we went over back in October, the first Superman trailer will likely be around 2 to 3 minutes in length.
We’re also guessing the footage will likely open with scenes of David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, leading up to the big moment where fans get their first look at Corenswet in the new Superman suit. It may also feature a favorite song chosen by James Gunn, a preview of John Murphy’s score, or possibly both.
The Superman trailer might also include glimpses of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner Green Lantern, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific—characters who have been prominently showcased in set photos.
Superman gets released July 11, 2025 and also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
