Great Scott! Could James Gunn drop a surprise teaser trailer for his Superman movie on Sunday?!
Reports have offered that the Superman trailer will be released this coming week and it has also been said Gunn is holding some sort of fan or press event on Monday. While Gunn has already shot down the Superman trailer release on Monday, he just may very well be releasing a teaser for the trailer on Sunday (or how about the first poster?!).
Update: James Gunn didn’t do anything to celebrate the 46th anniversary of Superman: The Movie‘s release other than answer a fan question on Threads. It’s now said the trailer will be screening Monday and will drop online Thursday.
Original article continues:
Grace Randolph previously said Gunn is holding a big press event the week of the 16th and now Jeff Sneider also says it’s Monday:
A Press event for SUPERMAN TRAILER is being held on MONDAY at WB Lot.

Why Sunday? 46th anniversary of Superman: The Movie
Well, Gunn seems to have a thing for dates, and Sunday happens to be the date when the first Christopher Reeve Superman was released, Dec. 15, 1978, marking the 46th anniversary.
Gunn’s own Superman movie is getting released on his dad’s birthday, July 11 (mine, too! woohoo!); his first date with his wife was July 10, the day of the Superman Thursday previews, and Corenswet’s birthday is also that week on July 8 (my grandpa’s bday!), and his first Guardians of the Galaxy movie was released the week of his birthday (Aug. 5) on Aug. 1.
So, Gunn seems to be releasing the Superman trailer as a tribute to the first Christopher Reeve and Richard Donner movie. Gunn, a big fan of the film, has drawn inspiration from it for his new Man of Steel movie (Gunn even includes Reeve’s son, Will, in a cameo role). WB also released the Super/Man Christopher Reeve documentary earlier this year, and on MAX just last week (bring your tissues!).
Gunn’s Christmas gift to fans
What appears to be going down is that Gunn could release a Superman teaser, which a report said is all about Krypto, on Sunday, then he holds the big press event on Monday and shows the trailer, the press hype it up, and then the full trailer gets released later in the week in time to play in front of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. As we suspected, the Superman trailer will also be here for Christmas.
Of course, there might not be a teaser on Sunday, but a press event on Monday and then a trailer drop on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
The film also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
