James Gunn Shoots Down Grant Gustin DCU Flash Rumors

James Gunn has made it clear that Grant Gustin won’t be suiting up as The Flash in the DCU.

Responding to a fan post on Threads featuring an image of Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster stating “This gotta happen,” Gunn shut the idea down with a blunt reply: “It happened on TV for 9 seasons.”

Why Fans Thought Gustin Might Return

The fan suggestion likely stemmed from a recent image of Gustin sporting blond hair, which sparked speculation that he might be involved with James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DCU as the next cinematic Flash.

However, it appears Gustin’s updated look is unrelated and tied to a separate, unknown project he’s currently working on.

Gustin has also shot down playing the DCU’s The Flash.

Gustin’s Flash Legacy

Gustin portrayed Barry Allen for nine seasons on The CW’s The Flash, which ended in 2023.

Despite his popularity in the role, his future as DC’s Scarlet Speedster appears to be over.

Ezra Miller recently played The Flash on the big screen in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. Presently, it’s unknown if Gunn has plans for any speedsters in the DCU.
