James Gunn Breaks The Internet With Zack Snyder Photo

James Gunn broke the internet on Thursday when he posted a photo of himself with Zack Snyder.

“Always a pleasure catching up with my friend Zack Snyder, consummate filmmaker (and a doubly consummate storyteller!),” posted Gunn.

As many DC fans have pointed out, the location of the photo is the same location where James Gunn revealed the DC writers room.

Update: It’s said Gunn is holding a private press event and an announcement will be made next week.

Is Zack Snyder back with DC?

It’s unknown why Zack Snyder potentially had a meeting with James Gunn. Maybe they talked about the Superman movie? I’ve been told Snyder’s VFX guys are working on it. Maybe Gunn has brought Snyder in to help with the visuals? Following the first spot (watch below), many fans took to social media to point out the look of David Corenswet.

Or maybe they talked about a potential new DC movie? I haven’t heard anything as of late, but last summer I was told Zack Snyder could come back to DC anytime he wants to. Snyder has said he would like to adapt Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. Maybe that means we’ll have three Batmen: Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s Batman, Gunn’s version of the Dark Knight in the DCU (which might be hinted at in the new DC Comics design), and Zack Snyder could be doing The Dark Knight Returns. Maybe Ben Affleck will even return. Would be wild. The original plan following The Flash was to indeed set up a Batman Multiverse.

Gunn and Snyder could very well be featured together in the photo to quiet the rabid fans on the internet. The Snyder Cultists are having a field day posting memes and such. The Gunn stans are also butting heads with them. Well, as I told you, James Gunn and Zack Snyder are friends. Can’t everybody get along? If Gunn announces Snyder on a DC movie, that would probably calm everyone down and of course break the internet even more.

James Gunn’s Superman gets released on July 11, 2025.
