Jacob Batalon Talks Spider-Man: Homecoming Ned Leeds

Jacob Batalon, who is playing Ned Leeds, offers more details on his Spider-Man: Homecoming character while visiting a performing arts class in Honolulu.

“Ned is really an innocent, genuine, sweet kid,” Batalon offers. “And so, I haven’t been those things since like… I sort of just drew from my childhood when I was younger and didn’t know any better. Because, you know, he’s really naive in a sense. He just loves Star Wars, and he’s super-smart. And he just loves to play around, so… I just went back to when I was a kid playing Power Rangers and Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon. Yeah.”

Batalon also previously offered the following in a recent interview.

“Ned Leeds. I play Peter Parker’s best friend in the film,” Batalon said. “We are both in high school. We are about fifteen. It’s about Peter dealing with being a superhero and going through puberty. He still has to worry about homework. He still has to worry about his crush liking him while trying to save someone who’s probably in a burning building. He can’t tell anyone because he’s not the cool kid, so he is just stuck with this really cool life that he can’t tell anyone about.”
