Jacob Batalon, who is playing Ned Leeds, offers more details on his Spider-Man: Homecoming character while visiting a performing arts class in Honolulu.
âNed is really an innocent, genuine, sweet kid,â Batalon offers. âAnd so, I havenât been those things since like⊠I sort of just drew from my childhood when I was younger and didnât know any better. Because, you know, heâs really naive in a sense. He just loves Star Wars, and heâs super-smart. And he just loves to play around, so⊠I just went back to when I was a kid playing Power Rangers and Yu-Gi-Oh! and PokĂ©mon. Yeah.â
Batalon also previously offered the following in a recent interview.
âNed Leeds. I play Peter Parkerâs best friend in the film,â Batalon said. âWe are both in high school. We are about fifteen. Itâs about Peter dealing with being a superhero and going through puberty. He still has to worry about homework. He still has to worry about his crush liking him while trying to save someone whoâs probably in a burning building. He canât tell anyone because heâs not the cool kid, so he is just stuck with this really cool life that he canât tell anyone about.â
