[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4339:]]Bryan Singer recently announced that Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart would be returning to X-Men: Days of Future Past, in addition to the returning actors from X-Men: First Class.
McKellan will be reprising as the Master of Magneticism, Magneto, with Stewart as Professor Xavier.
While McKellan doesn’t know any of the specifics, he is excited none the less.
“What a gas!’ McKellan told the Huffington Post. “I mean, Patrick Stewart and I have been have just been playing ‘Waiting for Godot‘ throughout England and in the West End of London. So, we’ve stayed in touch. We can’t believe it [laughs]. I thought these were Fassbender and McAvoy’s parts, but — no, no — we’re back. We’ll give them a run for their money. I mean, I haven’t read the script, so I don’t know how much we’ve got to do. But, to be back in that world, and for Bryan to be doing it — with all the success he’s had in the meantime — it’s wonderful. Wonderful.”
McKellan also offered his thoughts on Michael Fassbender’s portrayal of Magneto in X-Men: First Class.
“Yeah! I thought he was exactly that: first class. Excellent.”
In addition to McKellan, Stewart and Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are set to star with Hugh Jackman currently in talks to play Wolverine.
X-Men: Days of Future Past has a July 18, 2014 release date.
