Henry Cavill Fan-Favorite For New James Bond

Following the big news on Thursday, Henry Cavill is by far the fan-favorite choice to play the new James Bond.

It’s been announced that the long-time owners of the franchise have sold complete control over James Bond to Amazon Studios.

Following Thursday’s announcement, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos took to social media to ask his 6.8 million followers on X, “Who’d you pick as the next Bond?”

Fans overwhelmingly want Henry Cavill

The responses to the tweet are lit up with comments, gifs, and images recommending Henry Cavill for the new James Bond.

Cavill was actually up to play Bond and even screen-tested for the role (watch below). However, the role went to Daniel Craig, I believe at the request of owner Barbara Broccoli, who wanted an older Bond, as Craig was in his 30s at the time while Cavill was in his 20s.

Rumors have also offered Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Mescal, Callum Turner, James Norton, Regé-Jean Page, Damson Idris, Richard Madden, Henry Golding, Lucien Laviscount, Dev Patel, and Josh O’Connor.

Henry Cavill does have a good relationship with Amazon. He’s currently filming and starring in Amazon’s live-action Voltron movie. Henry also recently announced his live-action Warhammer series is moving forward at Amazon. Casting Henry Cavill as James Bond would also go a long way in repairing any damage with fans, as fans aren’t sold on Amazon taking over the property.
