Henry Cavill Confirms Injury, Reveals First Look at Highlander Hair

Henry Cavill has confirmed his injury while training for Highlander, posting photos on social media that show his ankle in a cast, along with a first look at his new hairstyle for the role.

The actor shared images of his bandaged ankle and foot elevated on a pillow, and another shot alongside his dog, as he recovers.

Cavill included the full text of William Ernest Henley’s famous poem Invictus, signaling both resilience and determination. Taking a closer look at the images also reveals Warhammer books, as Cavill is a huge fan and currently developing the live-action Warhammer universe at Amazon.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

First Look at MacLeod

Beyond confirming the injury, the photos also provide the first glimpse of Cavill’s Highlander hair. The actor is seen with a longer style, closer to the look of Christopher Lambert’s Connor MacLeod from the 1986 cult classic.

Cavill had previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Highlander is his main focus this year, calling it “a project that I’m extremely excited about.”

The reboot, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski, has already cast Russell Crowe as Ramirez, Dave Bautista as Kurgan, Marisa Abela in a new leading role, and Karen Gillan as Heather, MacLeod’s wife.

Filming Delayed

As reported by Deadline, production is expected to be delayed until early 2026 due to Cavill’s injury. The extent of the damage hasn’t been revealed, though the actor previously suffered a hamstring injury in 2021 while filming The Witcher Season 2.

United Artists, under Amazon MGM Studios, holds the rights to the franchise with plans for both the film and a possible series spinoff.

For now, Cavill’s message suggests he’s taking the setback in stride, with his sword-swinging days as the Highlander still to come.
