Henry Cavill At Comic-Con: Witcher Footage Drops

Superman Henry Cavill appeared at Comic-Con today to promote the new Netflix series, The Witcher.

The first footage dropped and some cool details were revealed including that Henry Cavill beat out 206 other actors for the part of Geralt the monster hunter.

Henry Cavill also revealed that he did his own stunts for the series and while sword training kept four swords a home and three on the set.

“I was very passionate about the games and played them a lot, and I always said I hoped they made them into a movie. So it was something I wasn’t going to let pass by without me giving it my absolute best shot,” Cavill said about wanting the role.

Regarding the footage, which hasn’t been made online as of yet, fans on social media are claiming that The Witcher is Game of Thrones on steroids.

The footage shows Freya Allen’s Princess Ciri getting surrounded by a hostile looking group with spears and taken away, and Henry Cavill’s Geralt uses his trusty sword to fight off both humans and monsters.

The series is also headed to San Diego Comic-Con with a panel at 2:15 PM on July 19 in Hall H. Moderated by accomplished actress and host and beloved sci-fi fan Yvette Nicole Brown (Community, Mom), the panel will include cast members Cavill, Chalotra, and Allan alongside showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Henry Cavill (Mission Impossible – Fallout, Justice League) leads the cast of The Witcher saga, playing the role of Geralt of Rivia, alongside other main cast members, Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) as Yennefer and Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds, Into The Badlands) as Ciri.
