How Henry Cavill Became Wolverine: Deadpool 3 Details

Henry Cavill made that big cameo appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine movie, which actually marks the first time an actor other than Hugh Jackman has played the role.

It’s learned the cameo, affectionately dubbed “The Cavillerine” by none other than Ryan Reynolds, saw Henry Cavill dedicate himself to the role as he was on set filming the 30-second scene for eight hours.

“The Cavillerine”

“He kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day,” director Shawn Levy told the NY Times. “I remember hearing the next day that Henry was sick to his stomach because he had been inhaling cigar smoke for eight hours straight, but never once did he waver.”

Levy further elaborated on Cavill’s cameo during an interview with Variety.

“If we’re going to talk about him, we must call him by his actual credited name, the Cavillerine, which Ryan coined,” explained Levy. “I knew it was undeniable as soon as Ryan came up with that term. He said ‘yes’ right away because he knew it would be subversive and playful. It was also with a lot of affection for him and his body of work, and playing with his legacy as a DC hero now that he’s appearing as a variant of a Marvel hero.”

“It just feels right”

The cameo features jokes and a nod to Cavill’s previous work, with Deadpool even offering “it just feels right.”

“The conversation with Henry was that it would be fun, it’s one of the few real cameos. The others are surprises and people that have a reason to be there. He was a great sport, and we love Henry. I will do anything for him to pay that forward,” said Reynolds.

Marvel insiders have filled Cosmic Book News in that Henry Cavill is indeed in talks to play the MCU’s Wolverine. Just as Levy and Reynolds explain above, we said Henry will do Wolverine justice. It’s known that Henry is a big fan of these characters and he stays true to the character and source material.
