H. Jon Benjamin Rumored For Rocket Raccoon In Guardians of the Galaxy Movie; Dwayne Johnson As Drax?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:5339:]]We have another batch of Guardians of the Galaxy movie rumors on top of the last ones that were about Gamora, but this time about Rocket Raccoon.

It’s being stated (via CBM) that the rumors of Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are true, but that another name might also be associated with Rocket Raccoon– and that it’s veteran voice-actor H. Jon Benjamin.

Jon Benjamin is known for voicing Sterling Archer in the FX’s Archer series as well as Bob Belcher in the Fox animated series Bob’s Burgers in addition to a lengthy resume of animated works.

The good news is that it’s said Rocket Raccoon – who contrary to previous rumors – will have a more featured role in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and that Marvel Studios doesn’t want to portray him as a “childish character.”

They also have an update on the casting for Drax The Destroyer and say that Dwayne Johnson was in contention – CBN’s pick for the role – but due to Johnson signing on the new Hercules movie that he won’t be able to.

Apparently the loss of Dwawyne Johnson has caused the casting call for Drax to change from more of an African-American role to one said to be more of an athletic Caucasian. Jason Momoa’s named has also been said to be up for Drax at one time, but due to his recent flops might be ruled out.

One tidbit regarding Gamora that we haven’t heard from the previous rumors is that Henry Cavill‘s girlfriend, Gina Carano, and Olivia Wilde are named.

The Guardians of the Galaxy movie opens August 1, 2014 directed by James Gunn.
