James Gunn and Marvel Studios have begun filming on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which includes a set pic and confirmation of a new actor cast for the flick.
“It’s been a strange & long & at times challenging journey to get here, but the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful. Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting #gotgvol3,” Gunn tweeted on Monday.
The pic features James Gunn along with Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), and Will Poulter who will play Adam Warlock.
Regarding the new cast member, Chukwudi Iwuji has joined the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 cast in an unknown role, but it seems to be a pretty big one; Iwuji plays Clemson Murn for Gunn in the upcoming HBO Max John Cena Peacemaker series that spins off of The Suicide Squad.
“Chuk has indeed joined the cast. After working with him on #Peacemaker I wasn’t about to let go of one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with – so I gave him the role most every big name actor in Hollywood wanted. #TalentAboveAllElse,” tweeted Gunn.
Chris Pratt also tweeted the photo, “HERE WE GO!! So pumped!”
“Oh. It. Is. ON,” tweeted Karen Gillan.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has a May 5, 2023 release.
