No Moondragon For ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ Confirms James Gunn

It’s learned that Moondragon will not be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as confirmed by James Gunn via Twitter.

Responding to rumor and speculation that Daniela Melchior is playing Moondragon, Gunn revealed the character isn’t even in the script.

“FALSE,” Gunn replied to the rumor. “…Honestly maybe if I had seen that photo of @MelchiorDaniela in a bald wig & how cool she looked maybe I would have written Moondragon into the script but Daniela was lazy & didn’t post that picture until today so if you want to blame someone you’re going to have to blame her.”

Quasar in Guardians of the Galaxy 3?

Moondragon has been speculated to be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 due to a couple of things including that James Gunn previously teased Quasar, and in various iterations of the comics, the Phyla Quasar (just referred to as Phyla now, I believe) is the girlfriend of Moondragon. In addition, also in the comics, Moondragon is the daughter of Drax, and Dave Bautista had made it pretty clear he is done with Marvel, so if ever Moondragon was going to be introduced into the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 would have made sense (and Moondragon is also a part of the team in the comics).

Now I am left scratching my head what Gunn was teasing by the Quasar reference a while back unless he is introducing the Phyla version without Moondragon?

Honestly, I would be blown away if it was the original Wendell Vaughn Quasar, but Gunn seems against using any other humans except for Star-Lord in the flicks (hence why no Richard Rider Nova).

Another possibility is the recent woke replacement for Quasar, Avril Kincaid, which, much like Phyla, is an awful character in the comics, but that doesn’t mean Gunn wouldn’t use her, especially considering how woke the MCU has become (why not create original characters instead of replacing them???).

So no Moondragon in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, but maybe Quasar?

The flick gets released May 5, 2023 starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, with Will Poulter as Adam Warlock.
