With Wonder Woman being the second biggest movie of the year, and Warner Bros. giving the sequel the go ahead, it’s learned that Oscar-award winning actress Geena Davis wants a role in the DCEU movie!
Variety caught up with Geena Davis who notes Davis is no stranger to action movies with The Long Kiss Goodnight and Cutthroat Island where she did all these “crazy” stunts. Davis is asked if she thinks she helped pave the way and inspire female action movies like Wonder Woman and Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blonde where she notes she would like to be in Wonder Woman 2.
I would never claim credit for those movies. Certainly “Wonder Woman” needed to be made, and I’m so beyond thrilled with how it came out. I met Patty Jenkins and I told her, “I’m sure you’re going to make a sequel and if you need anybody Amazonian, there’s always me. I’m available.”
This past Thursday saw it revealed that Patty Jenkins is in final negotiations to director Wonder Woman 2, so maybe she will bring Geena Davis along for the ride this time.
And speaking of Charlize Theron, who starred in Jenkins’ Monster, this past Comic-Con saw both Jenkins and Theron mention they can’t wait to work with each other again. Reportedly, Charlize Theron had to turn down a role in Wonder Woman because of her schedule, which may now mean she is available for Wonder Woman 2.
