Who is Pamela Voorhees?

Pamela Voorhees is a deeply disturbed and vengeful woman whose actions spark the entire Friday the 13th franchise. After her young son Jason allegedly drowned at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of the camp counselors, Pamela became mentally unhinged. Years later, when the camp is reopened, she returns and begins murdering the new staff to prevent the camp from operating again.

Pamela appears as a seemingly harmless older woman at first, but she’s revealed to be the killer behind the grisly murders in the first film. She’s fiercely protective of Jason, whom she believes still lives in some form, and even hears his voice urging her to kill. Her character is portrayed as loving and devoted, but twisted by grief and insanity.

She was played by Betsy Palmer in the original Friday the 13th film released in 1980.

Behind the series

Brad Caleb Kane serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Kane is known for Tokyo Vice, Warrior, and Black Sails.

Where to watch

Crystal Lake will air on the Peacock streaming service. A release date hasn’t been announced.
