Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein has revealed a first look at Oscar Isaac as Dr. Victor Frankenstein and previously Jacob Elordi as the Monster.
At Netflix’s “Next on Netflix” event on Wednesday, Guillermo del Toro released footage and offered the following:
“This film has been on my mind since I was a child — for fifty years. I’ve been trying to make it for 20 to 25 years. In fact, some people may even think I am a little bit obsessed with ‘Frankenstein,’ and they probably would be right. You see, over the decades, the character has fused with my soul in a way that it has become an autobiography. It doesn’t get more personal than this. I hope you enjoy this small look at ‘Frankenstein.’”
It has also been announced that the film will be released on Netflix in November. A specific release date is yet to be announced.

The film also stars Mia Goth as Elizabeth, Oscar Isaac as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Christoph Waltz as Dr. Pretorius.

The site points out that Guillermo del Toro has spent a long time adapting the classic Mary Shelley story where Oscar Isaac’s character “tampers with the natural order by turning dead tissue into a new being” — with that new being being Elordi’s Monster. The film has also been shot in Aberdeen, Scotland.
“Gothic romance was born partially out of the fascination with ruins,” del Toro explained. “Sometimes they’re more beautiful than the building complete because it’s the clash of creation and destruction.”
Frankenstein is expected to be released in 2025. Also starring includes Charles Dance, Burn Gorman, Ralph Ineson, David Bradley, Christan Convery, Lars Mikkelsen, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Lauren Collins, Felix Kammerer, Joachim Fjelstrup, Stuart Hughes, Roberto Campanella, Mark Wilkinson, and Jason Alan Staines.
The IMDb synopsis describes Frankenstein as:. Pretorius tracks down Frankenstein’s monster, who is believed to have died in a fire forty years before, in order to continue the experiments of Dr. Victor Frankenstein.
