Fantastic Four Cast Not Set Amid Chemistry Test Rumors

According to rumors, the Fantastic Four cast is still not set with it claimed to be due to chemistry tests regarding Pedro Pascal and the other actors that will make up Marvel’s first family.

While Pedro Pascal hasn’t been officially announced, the trades have confirmed he is up to play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.

Regarding why no official announcement, likely Marvel is going to announce the entire cast at the same time so they will obviously have to wait until everyone is signed.

While Jeff Sneider said a Fantastic Four casting announcement would happen by Thanksgiving or the first week of December at the latest, that only leaves a few days to happen.

Why no FF cast announcement?

According to scooper KC Walsh, the announcement doesn’t look to be coming anytime soon as while Pedro Pascal has been cast as Reed Richards, the other actors are going to screen test with him.

“So it sounds like Pascal is the only one who is set, and other castings will center around him meaning chemistry tests n more so it maybe sometime before anyone else gets confirmed,” he tweeted.

Kevin Feige needs to get Fantastic Four right

The three other casting roles are said to include Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm Invisible Woman, Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm the Human Torch, and The Bear‘s Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Benjamin Grimm, The Thing.

It was previously reported that the casting for the movie would center around whoever plays Sue Storm, but maybe things have changed.

Rumors have offered that Fantastic Four is all about Sue Storm and that the flick portrays Reed Richards in a negative light.

Maybe with the recent failure of Kevin Feige’s Phase 4, Phase 5, and particularly The Marvels, Kevin Feige is rethinking his approach to the FF and the MCU.

The movie does have a new writer with Josh Friedman, so maybe Friedman is writing out all the negative male elements in the film or at least toning them down so as not to insult the fans.

It has also been said various actors decided against taking the roles, with Adam Driver declining Reed Richards, with it claimed the reason being the script was so bad, so it sounds like Fantastic Four needs a bit of retooling.

The film is expected to be a big one for Marvel, as it is now claimed FF lays the foundations for Avengers: Secret Wars, so Feige can’t afford another bomb on his hands following Thor: Love and Thunder, Quantumania, and The Marvels, which is the worst-performing MCU and superhero movie of all time.

Additional rumors offer either Javier Barden or Antonio Banderas is up to play Galactus. Another rumor that hopefully doesn’t come to fruition is Anya Taylor-Joy playing Silver Surfer.

Fantastic Four has a May 2, 2025 release date with Matt Shakman directing and it’s expected to start filming in the Spring. Regarding any potential filming conflicts that Pascal may have due to HBO’s The Last Of Us, Jeff Sneider recently said Joel will be the third lead of the series in Season 2 behind Bella Ramsey’s Ellie and the character, Abby.
