Ewan McGregor Hopeful for 'Obi-Wan' Season 2'

Ewan McGregor, known for his iconic role as the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, has given Star Wars fans a glimmer of hope regarding a potential second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

During his recent appearance at L.A. Comic-Con, McGregor revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm are “exploring” new ideas for the future of the series.

“Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there,” McGregor said during the panel.

Wants Hayden Christensen back for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2

McGregor reprised his role as Obi-Wan in the Disney+ series, which aired in 2022, after previously portraying the character in the Star Wars prequels. The events of the series take place ten years before the original Star Wars: A New Hope, which featured Alec Guinness in the role of Obi-Wan. Reflecting on the timeline gap, McGregor mentioned that there’s still room for more stories about the Jedi.

As for what direction he’d like to see the story take, McGregor expressed interest in exploring his character’s connections to The Clone Wars.

“There’s a couple of things. I’d quite like to wear that armor. I was speaking to someone earlier from The Clone Wars. I think that’s something I would enjoy,” he said.

However, the actor also acknowledged that making a second season happen could be complicated by the de-aging technology that would be required to make him appear younger.

“I don’t care, I’ll do it,” McGregor joked. “And that way, Hayden and I can really get back together again.”

Thinks Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 will happen

McGregor’s reference to Hayden Christensen, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the prequels, suggests his hope for the two actors to reunite in future episodes. The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi featured a climactic face-off between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader.

“I hope we get a chance to do another one, and I’m sure we will,” he also shared during a previous interview with LADbible. “I’m pretty sure, you know, I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in A New Hope. So there’s time to tell more stories in there.”

The limited six-episode series Obi-Wan Kenobi followed the Jedi Master as he came out of hiding to rescue a young Princess Leia from the Galactic Empire’s Inquisitors. Along the way, Kenobi faced his former apprentice, Anakin Skywalker—now fully transformed into Darth Vader.
